I am a firm believer in spanking. My mother did and her mother before her did it. Now like the comments bellow you must be careful not to go to far. When my son has received a spanking from me I let my self cool down first. I don't spank him when Im mad with him. Good ex: my son was 3 and he thought it would be a good Idea to try momy in the middle of the grocery store and throw a tantrum. Now this took me by surprise because he had never done this before. My first instinct was not a nice one but I stop my self looked at him and comely  walked him to the bathroom. Then I gave him a reason to cry. But I did calm my self down and my son is 5 now and we have not had another incident.

Me and my Friend, we will call her "sally" go round and round about this spanking thing. She is a time-out mother and i am a spanking mother. i have been there when her child has done something wrong and it takes her up to a hour to put her 4 yr old in time out and to stay there  for 4 mins. when it would have been much easier to spank i beileve. when my son 19 months old dose something wrong he gets a swat on the bottom and gets removed from the naughty thing, and he no longer dose it. I think that spanking is okay within reason, there is a fine line and parents have to be carefull not to cross it!

I think spanking is a good think, I understand what you said about parents possibly taking it to farm and harming their child, however you must learn to control yourself no matter what form of punishment you choose for your household. My household will have spankings. My parents spanked us and we were no less social than the kids that never got a spanking.
