Is posting a naked baby picture ever OK?

First, we'll let you in on a secret: Recently, we wanted to have a "bath-time baby" photo contest in the Community. It sounded like fun - we all love taking pictures of our babies when they're wet and bubbly (or wet and wailing). Then we saw a story about one mom who had taken pictures of her naked baby fresh out of the tub, being kissed by Dad. After she brought her images to Walgreens to be printed and the technician reported her, she was accused of sexual exploitation of a minor, jailed, and her baby taken away. (The charges were eventually dropped and the baby returned.)

According to the article, parents today are in a tricky place legally when they post or display pictures of their babies even half naked; your pictures could be misinterpreted and you could end up in big trouble, partly because of new child pornography laws.

Sad? What do you think?

I agree with the intensity that the US agencies work against child pornography, however; it is really sad that we have to get to the point to where even parents can not take pics of their little naked angels! It is ridiculous! I even had an issue with this in the past. My sister was about 13 years old and I remember someone in her school pinched her with a needle while going from one classroom to another. Because it was such a big group of kids, she wasnt able to tell who it was. To make the story short, we took photos of the area where she was pinched so that there would be evidence when filing the complaint with the school (these pictures were just of the exact area in her "behind" where she had been pinched- the pictures were very straight to the point, no nonsense) and when we tried to print them at walmart, it was just a huge awful deal and we ended up with no proof of the issue. I have a FB account but I chose to keep it really private. I also have some pics of my baby on the bath tub. I do tend to cover some of his parts not because I worry about my son but because some people are just plain dirty minded! Very sad considering babies are so innocent and truly beautiful little chunks of love! I guess it is just up to the parents to be really cautious and use common sense when it comes to posting photos and videos.
