First, we'll let you in on a secret: Recently, we wanted to have a "bath-time baby" photo contest in the Community. It sounded like fun - we all love taking pictures of our babies when they're wet and bubbly (or wet and wailing). Then we saw a story about one mom who had taken pictures of her naked baby fresh out of the tub, being kissed by Dad. After she brought her images to Walgreens to be printed and the technician reported her, she was accused of sexual exploitation of a minor, jailed, and her baby taken away. (The charges were eventually dropped and the baby returned.)
According to
the article, parents today are in a tricky place legally when they post or display pictures of their babies even half naked; your pictures could be misinterpreted and you could end up in big trouble, partly because of new child pornography laws.
Sad? What do you think?
