Hi there,

I have been having a lot trouble getting my 2 1/2 year old son to eat healthier. I know this is a common problem for all parents and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what helps? Or any examples of solutions where they have achieved the impossible- of healthy eating for their kids. Any ideas for help would be very much appreciated.

I have a 12 year old that was extremely picky- wouldn't touch anything and was so dramatic if we asked him to try it.  He is still picky and makes unhealthy choices at times, but we always had the policy that he had to try the food on his plate- just one bite and then move on if you don't like it.  At this point, he will eat what's in front of him even if he doesn't care for it- he will try new things.  I don't think it's good to fight about food with the kids, it just makes it a power struggle- but giving them boundaries is ok too- just one bite and then you can be done.
