Dear Baby Princess,
You are 16 months old today.
It is amazing how much you've grown. L commented the other night at dinner that you are starting to have a "little girl" look about you and she's absolutely right. When I look at pictures of you as a newborn it is just crazy to me; you are truly a whole different person.
Right now you are doing an amazing job of moving from sign language into real words. You continue to say "hi," "bye-bye" and "uh-oh" consistently, but now you also say "eat" and "please" (that one is my favorite because it sounds like "peas"). You also randomly said "baby" perfectly clearly the other day. Oh, and I almost forgot! Daddy taught you to say/understand "bee bo" for belly button, after reading one of your favorite books. Now you are obsessed with showing everyone your bee bo. Normally I'm not a big advocate of baby talk but you and Daddy are so cute about it I can't help myself. You will say Mama occasionally but not on cue; whenever Daddy asks you to say "Mommy" you say something that sounds like "ba ba." But you are starting to point to us when we ask "Where's Mommy?" or "Where's Daddy?" And at dinner the other night when L asked where your nose was, you pointed to it. I didn't even know you could do that.
Friday you are having tubes put in your ears, sweet girl. Apparently there is just no other way to beat this ear infection. I hate the idea of you having surgery but the doctor has convinced us that it is minor surgery and that there is really no other alternative. I am being a nervous mom about the whole thing but I'm sure it'll be good for you in the long run.
I love you, sweet baby. Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Love,
Mommy
