Why I am Crazy

Why am I losing my mind these days? My Mother-In-Law is staying with my family in our teeny tiny little house and she is often not the sanest of people to begin with. There are now 3 adults (2 with ADD) and 2 very small children crammed into less than 900 square feet. I don't get out much, so we are together ALL day. We often have conversations just like this apology for my meltdown a few nights ago when I was just feeling entirely overwhelmed.

Me: "I'm sorry for losing it…

Baby's First Leftovers!

The big day is behind us and you can take a cooking break. Well, until the next big day which, for some of you, may be as early as this Wednesday! More reason to make this weekend all about leftovers.

This year was my second child's first Thanksgiving since starting solids and, surprisingly, it wasn't the hit I expected. Though he usually eats chicken, he wasn't into turkey. He chomped on bread, but refused stuffing. And he wouldn't even let the squash near his lips. Go… Continue

New to Blog

Hi, my name is Tammi and I am a mother of two wonderful children. My daughter is 4 years and 7 months old and my son is 5 months old. I am married but at the same time for 28 days I am a single mother. My husband is a Merchant Mariner and is gone at work for 28 days then he is home for 28 days. My life is hectic but I wouldn't change it for anything. I really love being a mom. Granted sometimes my house is a wreck and I never have the time to fix my hair or dress nice anymore because my time is… Continue

Nutritionist's Tip > Week 2: Surviving the Holiday

Getting through the holidays while trying to lose weight is certainly a challenge. Though an overall strategy from Thanksgiving to New Year's is critical, it’s also helpful to have a plan in place for big eating days, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here are some tips to help you navigate your day.

Don’t starve yourself

PLEASE do not starve yourself in the morning so you can overindulge at the meal. This almost always ends up backfiring, as you end up virtually starving… Continue

Is posting a naked baby picture ever OK?

First, we'll let you in on a secret: Recently, we wanted to have a "bath-time baby" photo contest in the Community. It sounded like fun - we all love taking pictures of our babies when they're wet and bubbly (or wet and wailing). Then we saw a story about one mom who had taken pictures of her naked baby fresh out of the tub, being kissed by Dad. After she brought her images to Walgreens to be printed and the technician reported her, she was accused of sexual exploitation of a minor, jailed, and… Continue

Hey everyone!

I just joined this community! I figured I should write a little something about me. I am not married, but engaged. Our daughter was a surprise baby and I found out that my SO was going to propose to me, but I woke him up saying "I have something you need to see..." so things changed! I'm not regretting it, and our family couldn't be happier! We have 4 cats and a dog and we live in a basement apartment. We're in the process of buying a house (the most frustrating thing I have EVER done in my… Continue

DEADBEATS UNITE...

I have no one else to talk to that won't let me just vent without weighing in on this situation because they know me personally. So here it goes. I have been with my sons father for 8 years. We had our son 6/1/10. during this pregnancy, my bd and I were having difference of opinions often. I didn't realize before pregnancy that he was coo coo bananas. Not 5150 crazy, but he working his way up to that.

I realized that when I pregnant that neither my child or myself were that important… Continue

Is Relaxing a word in Parent World??

I'm beginning to doubt that I will ever feel the joys of a full night's sleep. Even on the occasion that my daughter does sleep through, my body has become accustomed to waking up, pulling my tired limbs out of bed and crossing the hallway to gaze down at her peaceful face (or wailing, on the nights she actually is awake and wanting something). And it's funny how little I mind.

When me and Chris first started living together, he would shift against me in the middle of the night and I… Continue

my sweet widdle has been posessed by satan. he wouldn't sleep for the past three nights and cried and screamed all weekend. no fever. no diaper rash. not much formula to constipate him. plenty of poopy diapers. no new routines or changes to the old. just screaming banshee. last night i was so exhausted and frustrated he ended up in his crib. he fell asleep and stayed there for 2 whole hours. i slept so hard i was completely disoriented when i heard him crying and he wasn't laying next to me.… Continue
