Reading time
My 5 month old loves it when I read to her. I read to her everyday and I ask my 2 1/2 year old to pick the book, which he usually does. I try to keep them both engaged in the story by making out the sounds and changing voices. My 5 month old loves it but my 2 1/2 year old seems to lose interest. Is he just not interested in reading time anymore? Is he ready for other books? Perhaps I need to buy more books for his interest ie. airplanes, helicopters, Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I might…

What's that noise
Currently my 2 1/2 year old has an obsession with the sounds of airplanes, helicopters, lawn mowers, ambulances, etc... .Every time he hears a sound he takes a second to decipher which is it and always asks "What's that noise" and we answer every time.

4th child.
I just had my 4th c-section on April 20th, 2013. She is our last baby and I even had my tubes tied during the c-section. However I am upset because my baby was prematurely born and had to stay at Nicu to ensure growth and development is properly treated. We have dealt with this before with our other 3 children but this one seems harder since she is our last baby. We are anxiously awaiting for her to be healthy enough and ready to be safely discharged so we can bring her home an have her join…

I use "working" moms for a lack of a better term to refer to moms who work outside the home. All moms are working moms. After I had my son I returned back to work out of necessity. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. If a family is able to live off of one income in today's economy or has the financial support from family or circumstances that enable it then I am more than happy for them.…

Your First Language
Dear Baby Princess,
Your language has become truly incredible.
Yes, I am intellectually aware that you are not the first two-year-old in the world to begin to really master language, and I realize that I find it impressive simply because I'm your mom. In fact, I just saw your friend A in San Antonio (her parents were sweet enough to make the drive over from Houston for the afternoon), and she, too, is talking up a storm. But at the same time, it is just such a…

Faraway Princess
Dear Baby Princess,
I am missing you tonight!
I am in San Antonio for a conference, and you are, of course, at home. Actually, it's a pretty rare night, because I am out of town and Daddy happens to be out for the evening at the NCAA Championship game (Michigan vs. Louisville, in case I have trouble remembering years from now . . . though your Daddy will never forget that kind of thing). I got to fulfill my lifelong dream on Saturday by going to the Final…

My Little Blessing!
2 years ago I was being admitted to the hospital. I was 34-36 weeks and I had nothing ready. I was so sick that I was happy to be there. I was told I had severe pre-eclampsia and that he had the infection too. They couldn't wait any longer. I was scheduled to start my induction April 12th. I was in so much pain. I was too swollen for the monitor to read my contractions. My body wasn't dilating right either. When I started to bleed they ran in. We found out that the cord was around his neck…

Looking into the past
I have a ridiculous case of the fat blues. I have been as small as 128 lbs and as big (at nine months pregnant) 225 lbs. Right now, I can't even stand to look in the mirror. I know I am hard on myself, but that is just who I am. I am currently 207lbs and my son is now 5 months old. I haven't even lost a pound since I gave birth( I was 200) in fact I have gained. I am so ashamed of myself. I feel like I am doomed to stay fat and ugly…

Your Name
Dear Baby Princess,
For the first time today, you said your full name!
Okay, maybe that doesn't seem like a huge milestone (by they time you're reading this, I would hope it'll be a commonplace occurrence). But it's just one example of how drastically your communication has changed over the last couple of months. You narrate everything you do, not to mention asking questions and offering commentary on what everyone else is doing! Now that your car seat faces…

Baby Daddy & I
May 15, 2010 (Officially dating)
We actually met when I was 14, he 16. My father lived across the street from him & his family. I must say, when I first saw him, I knew he had to be mine. That wasn't the case. I was probably the most annoying girl he has ever met, I texted him everyday even if I had nothing to say, I would text him and then tell him I meant to send it to someone else even when I didn't. He was in love with another girl who wouldn't give him the time of day. Then…

Visitors Galore
Dear Baby Princess,
You've been a very popular tourist attraction lately!
For the past month or so you've had visitors just about constantly, which has been a great time. First was M, who we have not spent any real quality time with in who knows how long, and it was so great to have her here. Unfortunately it was just for a night, but it was wonderful to be able to catch up with her in person and to let her spend a little bit of time with…

A Mother in need of ADVICE!
I recently moved back in with my Mother-in-law because my own mother wouldn't like my baby's daddy spend much time with him and now that i'm here the whole house it full with siblings (2) siblings girlfriend and his Parents. So during the day when I want to spend time with him he doesn't like me to sit rather stand but i'm trying to make him break habits because my mother would always carry him while standing even when he's asleep for a long period of hours. We both suffer during the night…

The moment he was born and they placed his soft warm body on my chest I felt such an overwhelming and unexplainable surge of love for this little person that I did not even know I was capable of feeling. Every pain, every care in the world disapated as he lay nestled on my chest. His crys silenced by my embrace. As I looked down on him he gazed directly into my eyes with such alertness, he knew I was his mommy. He gazed at me as if to say, 'hi mommy, I love you too.' I could never put…

Your baby is the most important thing to you and so you want to feed him a healthy diet that includes the vitamins and nutrients he needs to grow big and strong. But with baby feeding, parents have an overwhelming number of decisions to make. The first is whether to breastfeed.

lactose intolerant or possibly gluten allergy?
My 6 month old won't sleep more than two hours at a time at night. He goes to sleep just fine with no crying or problems, then wakes up every two hours with gas (farting). He usually passes gas twice, eats a little, and goes back to sleep no problem. This has been going on for over two weeks now. I tried switching him from rice cereal to oatmeal, with no change. I also have him on Similac Sensitive for gas. I tried…

one thing i do love seeing is a community where moms are all united. going through everything and sometimes losing everything. i love the fact that i can come here and read other amazing mom stories and read what some mom went through that almost sounds like what i went through. i love the fact that im not the only one who has these feelings and im not the only one who is going through it. i love that i know im not alone...
