Biting out of frustration

Started this discussion. Last reply by Anna Schultz Jan 26, 2011. 3 Replies

Lately my 14-month-old has taken to biting when frustrated. He sometimes bites the palm of his hand (not hard enough to leave marks), but otherwise doesn't bite other people. What he most often does…Continue

Thought I'd post this - just in case some folks hadn't seen it. Another new warning came out this week against using sleep positioners and similar devices:…Continue

Hi all!My jogging stroller thread from this spring led to some great recommendations so I thought I'd try the same thing for car seats. My son still has room in his SnugRide 32, but here pretty soon…Continue

Egypt is on my "must see" list! Just so much history - I can't imagine seeing all of those ancient things in person!

I've been out of the country twice. Once with my college team on a little tour - we went to Germany, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Then my husband (then boyfriend) and I took a vacation in the same area - Germany, Bratislava, Czech…

you don't want to start time outs with a 9 months old - they're far too young to "get it" at that age. 24 months is the earliest that it's recommended. we did start at about 18 months, but with a modified time out - we sat…

personally, i love sparkpeople. it's a free web site that allows you to track your calories in versus your calories burned. based on your goals (how much you want to lose and when you want to lose it by) they give you a range of calories, fat,…

I used a shield, but under the direction of my LC we weaned off of it at about this time - about 8 weeks. I used one for latch issues as well. I was inverted and my son had a "tight jaw" so the two of us together were bad news. I…

at 2 months i wouldn't say he's teething yet. i wish i could remember where i read it, but it's my understanding that the first of the senses that is most sensitive is that of taste - which is part of why babies (and toddlers) love to…

my last gynecologist told me it can take three months for your body to "get used to" a BCP - so it can take three months after starting a particular BCP for you to really know how it might affect you, and it can take three months for your…

motrin is definitely your friend in this situation. if he's teething i'd give him motrin before bed without a doubt. i bet you'll see an immediate change. if it is so bad that he wakes up again at 2 am he'll be ready for another…

honestly, no. i never found anything related to weight loss that didn't kill my supply. i had supply issues for the 13 months that i nursed. three things made a noticibly negative difference for me - starting my period, not drinking enough…

i agree - i think the only thing that worked for us was the same approach. we made strong eye contact and gave a firm "no" with the first throw, then if it happened again the food got taken away. end of meal. if your son were that hungry…
