Welcome, Sara! Where in Washington are you?

Comment by Sara Maccharles on April 28, 2012 at 12:07am

My name is Sara and I just turned 27; i am new to mommy networking, but really hope to make some connections.  I am about to have my fourth..  my son is turning 1 tomorrow, my oldest daughter will be 10 on May 13 th, my expected lil girl will be here around June 1st, and my 2 nd daughter will be 9 July 24 th.  I had origionally planned to have my oldest daughter through induction, but ended up having an emergency c-section, the second daughter was a c-section, and my son was a scheduled c-section, but was born 20 min. after my water broke, so, he was an all natural birth, and my lil girl that is due at the end of May has a scheduled c-section, but we think she'll also be early.   Their dad and I are trying to reconcile after 8 and 1/2 years apart and it truly has taken a toll on our kids.  I look forward to sharing and reading further.

Welcome new members! A handful of you have joined in the last week, which is great! If you get a chance, introduce yourself on the wall and say where you're from. If you have a local tip about something great for baby/kids in your area, that would be great too!

I'm in Seattle, in the Wallingford neighborhood. I just learned the QFC in University Village has a really nice playspace that your child can stay in while you're shopping; haven't checked it out yet but it comes highly recommended from friends.

Is it just silly to visit the Washington coast in the winter? Too cold/foggy/windy?

Moms and Dads in the Seattle/Everett/Tacoma/Olympia area, there is a cool event happening in Lakewood on Oct 29. Called Truck and Tractor Day, kids can climb on the machines, get a free hard hat, take a free hayride and carve a pumpkin. A bit of a drive for me in Seattle, but I think it sounds worth a mini-road trip! Plus the park (Ft Steilacoom) apparently has one of those super-awesome "designer" playgrounds (with tons of cool towers and bridges). Check it out here: http://www.cityoflakewood.us/departments/parks-and-recreation/recre...

Puyallup Fair time here in Western Washington...anyone going? I've never been, what's the deal with the scones? Are they that awesome?

I'm Kristina and have 3 children, 10, 8 and 17 months old. Would love to find somebody who'd like to have playdates with our toddlers while the older ones are in school. djkjsmom@gmail.com

I live in Everett with Lily who is 17 months. We love to go to the imagine childrens museum because we have a yearly membership. But because we live on a tight budget free things are always awesome!

One REEEEEALLY cool summer fun thing is in Lynnwood (10 minutes from everett) it's down the street on 44th from the sno-isle library and nicknamed the dragon park. It has this water area with a dragon that spits out water, and other little spouts that spit water outta the ground. 18510 44th Avenue West

Also fun for summer is the jetty island ferry. It's free and takes you across a little body of water to a private beach where you can bring a picnic, dig in the sand, and swim. It's so much fun! And you can't beat a boat ride for free :D It's in everett down by the naval base.

Local tip: Bainbridge Island is a short ferry ride from Seattle and there is a great ice cream shop and gently-used children's clothing store within easy walking distance from the ferry terminal. I've heard you can also rent bikes and easily cruise around the island. It's a fun day trip!

We'd love to hear from the other Washington Moms in our Local Tips Contest. Where do you take your little one when you want to get out of the house and play? What's your favorite local children's clothing store? What park has the best sandbox? Share just one local tip on the wall and you'll be entered to win a $100 Living Social Family gift card! One winner will be randomly selected on June 1.
