Just keep letting him know the times when it would be appropriate to say sorry, and he'll start doing it eventually. I wish I could offer some advice about picky eating; my son isn't much for variety either. But neither are his friends, which makes me think it's not just my parenting style; some kids are just more adventurous about food than others. I'd love to hear the new rules you're instigating! I read the book French Kids Eat Everything and have tried to cut down on snacks; it definitely does help my son eat more at dinner when he's actually really hungry and not full on goldfish!
