Review: The Well Baby Tummy Time Mat

I received my Well Baby Tummy Time Mat on Friday and I couldn't have been more excited.  My son will be 3 months old on the 23rd, my husband and I have used 2 different brand tummy time mats that were not effective.  He would either tip over forward or roll over when placing him on the provided pillow.  When we received the mat, we placed our son on it and I quickly noticed an improvement in his posture and could tell he was more able to sit up on his forearms.  His posture was very slouched on the other mats we own.  He seemed to be fascinated with the ridges on the mat and tried to reach to touch it.  If he were on the other mats and attempted to reach for something, he would roll off of the mat.  I have only used the mat once the day we received it in the mail, but our son seemed to love it.  He would cry on the other mats but was content staying on the Well Baby Tummy Time Mat.  By first viewing the mat, I was skeptical because of the simple design but it actually works.  I think I was so used to the mats with all the colors and gadgets that I would have overlooked this product.  I highly recommend this mat and can't wait to see my son increase his core strength and motor skills.

We received our Well Baby Tummy Time Mat last Friday. My daughter will be three months old on the 29th and has absolutely HATED tummy time every time we have tried it. She seems to do the opposite of most babies and tries to crawl with her legs but not to try to hold her head up at all. It was clearly very frustrating for her. With this tummy time mat there was a noticeable difference right away. Not only did she begin to use her arms to push herself up for the first time but I've noticed that she now tries to do sit ups when she is on her back so there has obviously been an improvement in core strength. She hasn't mastered tummy time yet but she is definitely on her way and that is due to the WellBaby mat. I would definitely recommend it over pillows and towels, (I don't know about other mats, I haven't used them). Pillows and towels  hold the baby up too much and don't let her strengthen her core enough. This mat just has a slight arch to help nudge baby in the right direction. We are very excited to own this mat and have lots more tummy time in the future!

My son is 3 months old and has had little interest in tummy time. When we received The Well Baby Tummy Time Mat, I was skeptical; the design seemed almost too simple. However, from the first moment trying it, my son was able to support himself better on his arms and elbows and tolerated that position for far longer than he ever had before. The material was incredibly soft and was very easy to clean when we needed to wipe up a spill. While on The Well Baby Tummy Time Mat, I noticed right away that my son seemed more confident on his tummy and inched his hands out a bit to explore the bumps and ridges at the front of the product. My only complaint with the mat is the material. It is perfect for what it does, easy to clean and very soft however, after only having the mat for one day I noticed that the material was fraying in places. It took some time for me to figure out that our family cat was easily shredding the mat when we were not in the room. Hoping it was an isolated incident, I put the mat out of her reach but, even in the time it took to move my son from his tummy time on the mat to his swing, she was able to do even more damage to it. Perhaps the material is so soft that it affects its durability. This made me wonder what my son might be able to do to the mat himself once he has a few teeth or even if he would be able to rip the mat with his fingernails. This is just something to be aware of if you do have pets. Maybe the solution would be a cover of some sort, though I don’t know how that would affect the design. I’m going to continue to use the mat but, it was a bit shocking at how quickly it was shredded.

The Well Baby Tummy Time Mat did wonderfully for my 7 week old daughter and I.  We had lots of fun trying it out and it has definitely been added to the daily routine!  It may not have all the bells and whistles of other tummy time mats, but it’s not always the most extravagant that work the best!  This is a great product!!

I definitely do believe that for us, it lived up to all my expectations so far and then some.  The mat is easy to use, practically weightless and I love the fact that it helps baby not only with lifting the head and helping nurture little muscles, but it also helps strengthen leg and toe muscles even!  The mat is also easy to clean, not as large as other tummy time mat products that are available on the market and it’s made to grow with your baby up to 6 months old. 

I would absolutely recommend this to any other Moms I know and even Mommy-To-Be’s.  I can guarantee this will be handed down to one of my friends after my daughter is done using it.  There is NO using this product too much!  Use it whenever you can!

Only thing I would like to see in the future with this product is some sort of color selection.

I recieved the wellbaby tummy time mat last friday and was so excited to see how it would work. I got it all unpacked and put my little man on it and he loved it as opposed to tummy time before the wellbaby tummy time mat it was a heasache an a heartache because all he did was cry and I felt.bad because I was unable to find a product that he liked now with the wellbaby tummy time mat he doesnt cry and he laughs and smiles and genuinely loves it my little guy is 3 months old and since we have been using the wellbaby tummy time mat he has began to start scooting on his belly able to hold hid head up for longer periods of time. Over all my baby and I are very pleased and love thid product

I've been putting off writing this review because I really wanted the Well Baby Tummy Time Mat to work for my family. I have a nine week old son who, like a lot of babies, despises tummy time. The Tummy Time Mat sounded like just the trick for my little guy. He has colic, and so any tummy time is uncomfortable for him. While the Tummy Time Mat is definitely easy to clean, the other features (the comfort arch, the tactile ribs that promote touching, and even the foot resistance ridge) did not seem to interest my boy.

More importantly, my two month old consistently rolled off of the mat. The first time we tried tummy time on the product, I thought it was a fluke that he rolled off of the mat and onto his back. We tried again a few days later, and he did the same thing - only this time he did it three times in a row! Sadly, this product is clearly not for us. He does his dreaded tummy time on a blanket now. I may try the Well Baby Tummy Time Mat again once he's a few weeks older. Who knows? It may work for us then.

I received my Well Baby Tummy Mat on Friday March 16, 2012.  My son at the time was one week away from turning four months. Before the arrival of the mat, tummy time was spent on a spare blanket with toys to gain attention. My son was able to lift his head  and look around for brief moments when placed on his tummy.

 When using the Well Baby Tummy Mat I noticed the comfort arch in the matt did support my sons upper body and arms   thus givening him added support to lift his head and upper body for longer intervals.

I like that the Well Baby Tummy Mat was an easy clean . We had many episodes of drooling and spitting up.

What I would probably change about the mat is the color. His dad and uncle made mention that it looked like a yoga mat.

As for the arches at the bottom of the mat it aided  him in turning in different directions. He would put his butt in the air  like he was trying to turn over at times.

 Overall great product. On the packaging it said 0-6 months. I would probably decrease the age. I don't see my son using this matt at 6 months of age.

For me, I used to dread tummy time with my 31/2 month old daughter. And I have seen a drastic improvement in my dd’s tummy time response since the past 5 times we have used this mat. She spends few minutes on her tummy now versus few seconds previously!!

Pros of the mat-

1. Its sturdy and more cushioned than the tiny love mats. With other mats, I have to put a rug on the floor before I put the mat and finally my baby on it. With this mat, I don't need to bother for padding underneath.
2. Spillmarks proof, there is no drool marks left behind.
3. The comfort arch is a great support and my baby seems smiling with the support.

Cons –

1. I feel the mat is small, like If I am helping my little one on tummy time, by pushing the palm of her feet, she will easily come off the mat onto the floor in just one or two pushes. But if you just want to keep the little one steady on the Mat, its just perfect!

2. Also, I cannot leave my little one on her back on this mat. I use the tiny love mat to put my baby on her back and use this mat to put my munchkin on her tummy. Wish there was a way to avoid the use of two mats for young babies.

 I was very excited to receive the Well baby Tummy Time Mat, I just wish my two month old wsa as excited as I was! My son will be 3 months old on the 8th and so far without the Well Baby mat, he, if in a good mood, has enjoyed tummy time. I have a generally calm baby and I have to say I was shocked at the reaction I got from him when he was on the mat. He screamed bloody murder! From what I observed of him, the comfort arch seemed to be uncomfortable for my son. I didn't give up and kept trying the mat, everyday since I received it. The one time he wasn't extremely upset with the mat, he did manage to use the comfort arch properly, and pushed himself with his toes, that is until he pushed right off the mat.

I agree with the other reviewers that said the mat is too small. My baby doesn't have the control to stay on such a small space without toppling over. It is lightweight, easy to clean and I can see how the tactile surface might interest a baby. My suggestion would be to include more textures, maybe some bumps, and smaller ridges to atract their attention.

I did however have great results when I used the mat with my son on his back. The comfort arch supported his head and neck perfectly! He was very happy on the mat in this position. I placed the mat on top of another mat that had overhead toys, he stays on the mat for quite some time and appears to be having a great time, smiling and cooing at his toys!

Overall, The Well Baby Tummy Time Mat, has not worked out for my family.I love the concept of this mat and I'm disappointed my son has yet to take to it. I am determined to continue to try though! I'm hoping he is just not ready for it yet. I can see this mat working great for a 4-6 month old baby, with a little more head/body control. Hopefully I can write a better review of this product in another month or two. Thanks for including us in your review!

We received our mat on Friday the 16th and opened it right away! My daughter is 3mths old.  I was excited to give it a try since my little one hasn't really enjoyed tummy time too much. She didn't take to it the first time well but I know timing is everything so next attempt would be after a nice meal!

On our second try it was much better. She hung out for about 5 mins and was all smiles. Each day after, she stayed longer then the time before. I think the design is nice for the babies because the arch gives them the support they need. As of last night, she can hold her head up longer than before and has fun while on the mat. I do think that there could be more textures to to explore and her little feet really couldn't feel the ridges in the back yet but we will get there! The mat is super easy to clean which is good since, the longer the tummy time the more drool to clean!

We will continue to use the tummy time mat! Thank you for the opportunity to try it out.
