My older kids enjoy the new play equipment at Petit Park in Granada Hills.

Balboa park and lake is great for families. A beautiful park surrounding a lake. Great for picnics. The kids playground is the best I've seen. The best climbing and sliding. Toddlers even get their own play space just off the bigger one. My kids love going there.

A cute, quaint, great indoor activity for kids 3 and up is Fairies and Dragons in Encino, CA. They host weekend, themed events or even birthday parties.
Gymnastics world is great for kids about 3 and up as well. Used as a practice gym, they also host birthday parties, open to public weekends, as well as summer day camp.

Moms in my area love to get together at Beeman Park (Studio City near the library). It has a big sand area with swings and slides, a track for strolling, grassy areas for crawling babies and even exercise equipment where I've seen moms doing reps while baby watches from the stroller! I also love to visit the Moca Contemporary with my son. It is open and spacious for the stroller, and there is so much for him to look at.

Local Tip for Simi Valley Moms: There's a "secret" park along the wash! If you're up for a walk and have a stroller that can handle loose gravel, head North up Sycamore between Heywood and Royal, cross the wash, and take the trail along the wash on your right. There will be a cute park with an old-school merry-go-round and covered wagon jungle gym up on the left! [You can also get to it by driving into the neighborhood and parking, but I feel like that ruins the surprise of finding the "secret" park! =)!]

My local tip: go to the beach and walk along the shore or on the pier. Redondo beach is a nice pier where people go fishing. There are many new sights and sounds for my 5 month old.

We love Via Verde Park in San Dimas. They have two playground sets and a huge piece of grass you can have a picnic or just let your kids run around. They also have a huge sandbox!

my local tip: we go feed the ducks oats and bird seed (since your not suppose to feed ducks bread), count turtles and see how many different birds we can find at the El Dorado Park Duck pond in Long Beach

Here's my local tip:  We absolutely LOVE going up to the Griffith Observatory, spreading out a blanket on the grass, and having a picnic!  After eating, we just sit there and watch the people and the dogs and birds and play in the grass and enjoy the beautiful views.  :)
