My water broke at 6:45am Jan 6th. I was 37 weeks 4 days. I had no pain, no contractions. I wasn't dialated at all when I got to the hospital. After 18 hrs of labor & the help of pitocin, I was still only dialated 5cm. I was in horrible pain & getting so frustrated & exhausted! They told me I'd have to deliver within 24hrs since my water broke & the risk of infection increased. Dialation still wasn't progressing & I started running a fever. Within an hour, the nurse informed me they would need to do a c-section due to the risk of infection. Ended up having her 30 mins later at 2:45am on Jan 7th. I do feel a little jipped because of the c-section. I really wanted a vaginal birth! It did sort of feel like my baby was just handed to me. But she is perfect & healthy and that's what really matters. This was my first & I really hope with my next baby I will get to experience a vaginal birth! The c-section was painful & not the birth experience I'd hoped for. I'm just blessed to have a beautiful baby girl :)

My water broke at 8:30 am without contractions. I went to the hospital and they induced me. I was told I had 24 hours to deliver or I would have to have a c-section because of increased risk of infection. Thanks to 3 emergency c-sections going on,  I labored for 28 hours...my contractions just stopped. I begged my doctor to let me push anyways. I pushed for an hour (he used the vacuum twice) with no luck. I was rolled into the ER bawling because this wasn't how it was supposed to be. I hate my c-section...I hated the birth (if you can call it that)....I hate that it feels like someone just gave me a child instead of it feeling like he was mine. I hate that I had to deal with not only healing from a C-Section but also the normal healing from a vaginal delivery as well (we could get him to crown but with no contractions to keep him down he got stuck).

I also was induced and ended up getting a c-section. I was induced with Pitocin at around 9:30pm on 2/26. My water broke on its own at midnight I then labored until about 7:30am the following morning with no drugs (they stopped the pitocin once my water broke.) I labored to an 8 and my daughters heart began to decel when I'd contract. Her fluid was low which is why we were induced on her due date. She was born 8:20am via emergency c-section. I don't think the induction caused the c-section in our case, but I do believe there are far too many unnecessary c-section being performed.

I had to be induced 5 days past my due date. My amniotic fluid was low. I stay dialated at 1 cm for about 2 weeks and tried cervadil 3 times 12 hours each and never dialated and the day of my c section they decided to do c section because my baby's heart was at a steady level and not going up or down.

So my neighbor is going to try for a VBAC! She's a brave one to change her plan so last minute. I will let you know how it goes for her!

I also had a lot of people try to talk me into a VBAC. I opted for another csection just because I knew what to expect and didn't want to go through hours and hours of labor just to get the same result. I also had a feeling that my second son was going to be bigger than my first, even though no one agreed with me, and the dr had told me that my first was too big, he was 7 lbs 7 oz. My second was 7 lbs 14 oz. Three c sections later I am still happy with my decisions. My babies were healthy and so was I and that's all that matters in the long run.

I've had a successful VBAC and my doctor supported it. Well I guess my situation was different. I was 33 wks and found out that our baby girl had died. They pushed for a VBAC because it would have been easier on my emotionally. I wish I had that for my third delivery.

I say go with your gut instinct, research and your past medical experiences to determine what's best- vbac or Csection.  I had a terrible vaginal birth the first pregnancy, I tore really bad and had retained placenta after birth.  It caused me to lose a lot of blood, so I had to go into the OR.  It took me a very long time to get my energy back (due to the blood loss)... it was sooo hard to take care of a newborn w/ no energy... I couldn't even stand on my feet for longer than a couple minutes.  For my 2nd pregnancy, the Dr's assumed I'd try vaginal birth again... but I did my research and retained placenta is likely to happen again if it's happened before and b/c of the amount of blood I lost I seemed to be a heavy bleeder (I was 1 point away from needing a blood transfusion).  I opted for C-section w/ out even thinking twice about it... it was not worth the risk for me, I wanted a more controlled procedure.  I did in fact still lose a lot of blood, but no where near how much I lost the first birth.  It was overall SUCH a better experience for me, and recovery was soooo much shorter.  I think each individual should do their own research and consider their medical history before making a sound decision... each person is different and so the needs/concerns vary.  I had people left and right trying to push me to try vaginal again, but I am 100% pleased/content with the decision I made for a Csection.
