Where is everyone at in the book? I didn't post a reading goal for this week so I'm not sure how far everyone is into the book. I'm sure you've gotten to know the Vagner family history by now, right (through p. 147). Kind of a creepy group, I think, what with the Nazi affiliation and everything. The frozen tundra they're living in really sets the dreary scene too. It's a little bizarre to me that Cecilia lives next door to her father, but they haven't spoken in years--how does that work? And what propels Blomkvist to lay aside his professional ethics and take on the investigation proposed by Vanger?

i hit a spot where i couldn't put the book down...so i'm finished LOL. the whole family situation struck me as odd. they are all weird in their own ways, and they don't even fit together!

I've finished as well,....I liked the book sooo much that I am now on The Girl Who Played With Fire! :D   I was the same way,...I couldn't put it down, it was just sucking me in.

Great! So we can discuss if we want...although it wasn't my preferred genre, I thought it was an engaging read. I started the second book but found that I really didn't care enough about the characters to want to keep reading a story with them in it, lol. And I don't think I want to see the movie. Martin Vanger freaked me out. I liked Blomkvist, and Salander kind of grew on me by the end; is she supposed to be autistic? She has that photographic memory combined with the disregard of/ aversion to social norms. I was glad Harriet was alive and well. It's a little strange to me that she didn't contact her uncle and let him know she was ok (other than sending the kinda-creepy pressed flowers). Overall, I guess I found the whole book a little unsettling!

it wasn't my favorite read ever, but it was aight, as we say in b-more. i bought the next two books as gifts for someone so i will dig into them once she's done. i think salander is autistic too. the whole book was just weird. i can't imagine there being two more books to it. the whole no one getting divorced/remarried was weird. everything i looked up on the movie went on about the graphic rape scene. i'll be skipping the movie for sure! i wasn't the biggest fan of jane, but i'd be front and center for that before i go see dragon tattoo.
