Best book you read this year, and best baby/children's book

What did you read that you just loved this year? I really liked Khaled Hosseini's And the Mountains Echoed. I don't think it was as good as The Kite Runner, which he also wrote, but I did find it to be a fascinating story. Hosseini is a great…Continue

I finally got my hands on a copy of Gone Girl and plan to crack it while on vacation this weekend. I didn't know anything about it so I was surprised to see that it's a mystery, right? Who's read it? Post your reviews here :)Continue

Anyone read the Giver quartet?

For anyone who's read The Giver, did you know it was a three and now four book series? I'm reading the last one now (titled Son), would love to discuss any/all of the books. They're young adult, pretty quick reads, and really interesting.Continue

I've been a book-reading fiend this summer! In the past couple of months, I've finished The Interestings (pretty ok realistic fiction), And the Mountains Echoed (engaging story from the author of The Kite Runner) and Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld (good, but I liked The American Wife better). They're all narrative fiction. Now I have to buckle down and read my book club selection, a nonfiction book about child-rearing called NutureShock. Anyone else manage to tackle some novels (or anything else worth reading) this summer?

We could start it up again, DomMom! Is there a hot book you've been wanting to read that would be good for the VBC?

Took the quiz, I got 3 wrong :( Guess I have to brush up on my children's stories. I don't think I've ever read the ones I got wrong.

I haven't read it yet but it looks good. Tells us what you think after.

I just got 50 Shades of Grey out of the library. I'm off to a girls' weekend, seems like it will be good reading for by the pool. Who's read it?
