Mom365 Community
This group is for anyone (even Mr. Moms) who want to discuss or relate to other moms who just happened to be around 30ish. I think it is important to know that mothers (and fathers) come in all ages. Be proud of it! =)

Comment by D Rock on March 9, 2012 at 2:48pm Hello All,
I am on the downhill slide towards 40 (3 yrs to go). I just had my first babe in August 2011. Best experience ever. I do agree with noahsmommy2011 that it is harder on the body as you get older. But the difference between being a mommy in your 30s versus earlier is worlds apart. I don't know about that from my own experience but rather from talking to all of my friends who had babies much earlier in life. Needless to say my hubby and I did all of the crazy stuff we wanted to while first married (for 5 years before DS came along) so we are in this parenthood thing 100%!
Comment by noahsmommy2011 on March 2, 2012 at 2:37pm Hello ladies, I am 33 with my first and hoping to be pregnant with my second and last when 35. I turned 33 just 2 days before Noah was born. And I do have to say I think as you get older it is harder on you. There are days my poor body just aches, I feel as if i never stop. I get up around 5:30 and go till about 11 at night. Just wears me out and I think my age is some of it. But hoping to make a few friends on here and have some girl talk for a change...

Comment by Nikki El on August 22, 2011 at 8:29pm Hi Misty! I agree with Katie and Shannan-- those are exactly what worked for us too!
For white noise, we just used a loud space heater in the winter and a fan or air conditioner unit in the summer. We always had something running right next to his bassinet though. In fact, at 15 months, we still do it (though he sleeps on his crib mattress next to our bed now!)
As Shannan said, it does get much, much easier. Those first few months may have been the hardest in my entire life. Keep that in mind (that it gets easier over time), and in the meantime, enjoy your precious little bundle-- they grow so very, very fast!!
The 5 s's (swaddle, side, shush, swing and suck) from "Happiest Baby" worked for us too. We swaddled nightly for the first 3 months and our LO slept through the night almost from the beginning. I do recommend the Swaddle Me sacks (?) from Summer Infant that velcro. It's nearly impossible to keep a blanket swaddle on for more than a few minutes. Also, playing white noise or the sound of waves is helpful.
It also is supposed to help if the basinette is in your room so LO can hear you breathing.
It does get better; hang in there :)
