As I near the end of my 3rd trimester I have caught myself comparing this pregnancy with my previous. When my daughter was born she had, what her pedi called, witch's milk. Her boobs were producing and leaking milk. I was shocked and scared all at the same time. For those of you who have never heard of or experenced this... It is caused by an abundance of my hormones at the time of delevery and it passes on the baby.

I am wondering how common this is? How many other mom's have experienced witch's milk? Did it every happen with boys? I know that seems like a silly question but then again so is the one that was never asked.

I've never heard that term before. They sure do give awful names to things, don't they? I mean, both of my kids were born with stork bites. Another awful name...

Anyway, no, I didn't experience this with either of mine. My daughter did have vaginal bleeding and swollen breast tissue for a few weeks after birth, but they both went away. I had to google witch's milk to learn a bit more about it. Sources are saying it happens to about 5% of newborns.

I did speak with my OB and he said that boys and girls get this equally. He told me that since my 1st had it, expect it with him also. It was weird enough with my daughter but I think it might/will be even more crazy for a boy. I just figured there might be more moms who had experienced this. My daughter it laster 2-3months but went away on it's own.
It's pretty common. Both my daughters produced milk. My first daughter I cried because I thought it was something I did wrong as a mother. My doctor reassured me that my baby was okay and that many babies that are breast fed lactate. Your hormones have to get out of you some how and sometimes it's through your milk. They don't even notice. Now with my second daughter, I didn't worry as much because I knew she was okay and it wasn't as big a deal to her as it was to me. They both had baby acne for the time too. Darn hormones
Love your user name. Had that nick name for a while... My 1st was a girl and I'm having a boy any day. I'veresearched itmoreand both boys andgirls can get it, like you said from our hormones. But I haven't seen many post about other moms and real situations. I was worried at first. I just knew someone in my family would think bad. You would be surprised my mothers reaction to the Dr saying since I had strepB with my 1st I'd always be treated as positive. She thought it was like cancer or some weird STD. Really shocked her when I told her I was allergic to all the antibotics recommended to treat it.

Maybe someone else has a boy that had witches milk.?.?.
