My son is a Fall baby, born right around Thanksgiving. My daughter is a Winter baby, born the day after Valentine's Day. Comparing those two seasons, I think I preferred having a newborn in the Winter, because nobody expected me to go out anywhere. It made things more relaxed, and cozy. Plus, I always ran so hot when I was pregnant, so it was always a relief to go outside for a few minutes to cool down.

I always though it would be awesome to have a baby in the Spring, because the weather is so perfect,  I could have gone for long walks, or spent loads of time outdoors. But I was happy with my Winter pregnancy. I do know, for sure, I would not want to be 9 months along in 100 degree weather. Sorry mommas who are due any day. I'm sure it's miserable!

So, with my own experiences, I think Winter is the best time of year to have a baby. If you could pick any season to give birth, when would you choose to be the most pregnant?

My daughter was born August 2010, and it was freaking HOT!! My temperature runs hot during pregnancies so although I had an otherwise piece of cake pregnancy, I was miserably hot. It was fine having her in August though, because it was the very end and September that year wasn't too bad heat wise, so I wasn't cooped up in the house to keep her cool. Now I am 6 months pregnant (as of today!) and I am again just miserable lol because of the heat, but I'm also in Ohio and we got hit by bad storms last week, so our power and AC was out for a few days and it was 95+ degrees every day. I'm due November 7th so hopefully the last couple months are cooler!

Btw...I think if I had my way, I'd like to have a Winter baby too. My nephew was born the day after Christmas, so he was mostly indoors while he was very little, and by the time he was active enough to want outdoors, it was Springtime. Sounds perfect!

I vote winter too. I like your idea about being able to just nest at home, Jen, with no reason to go out or feel like you are missing anything by just staying home with your infant. Plus, then when you are ready to get out of the house and start walking with your babe, it will be spring and the weather will be fantastic!

@Bethany Ann, I hope it cools down for you so you can enjoy the rest of summer!

My first son was born Jan 4, 2000...Winter baby! Now I have a second son born March 9, 2012...another Winter Baby!! I have to say being small in the summer months is bliss. I too ran hot during my second pregnancy which was unusual for me as I was anemic during the first and was always cold after birth even in hot weather. Also it is pleasant to be able to walk around the neighborhood with baby and not have to bundle him up. So my vote is for Winter!!!

I loved having mine in the Spring!!! I was starting to get bigger around fall, and all winter I was big and pregnant and could hide behind maternity clothes. When she was born it was just starting to get nice out and I could get out and walk with her in the stroller and get the baby weight off and let her nap in the stroller. It was perfect I think, esp if you live in the Midwest. Yes Spring is wonderful!!! It makes sense, all of the animal babies are born then, why not humans? Mother Natures design LOL! Go March!!!

My son was born at the end of March ... PERFECT. Warmer days, yet not too hot to go out and do things. Cool evenings to chill out and relax. Plus I was my littlest when it was the hottest and biggest during the winter when it was cold. I'm hoping to do the same again next time.
