I have been nursing my daughter full time since day one. She is almost nine months now. I will be going back to work soon and need to stop or atleast reduce the amount of times she nurses. She will not go to bed without nursing and she refuses to take a bottle with breastmilk or formula. I have tried several kinds of bottles with no success. Im afraid that if i cannot get her to take a bottle i will not be able to return to work. I need to find a way to make feeding time easy for her father while im away. Im at a loss at what to do.
Maybe try a sippy cup? My daughter wouldn't take bottles, either. It was around 9 months or so that she started taking a sippy with no problems. It took a few tries to find the exact style she preferred, but at least she would take something!
have you tried breastflow bottles? they say its the closest thing to a mothers nipple it has the outer nipple but then it has a insert that goes in to it and its supposed to help keep air out, that the only bottle that my daughter will use the only thing is that when the inner nipple breaks down you have to order the insert off the internet but they really are good bottles.
That,s so funny you posted this i was just going to post something like this!! my son is a little over 9 months and he breast feeds constantly wont take bottles ive tried every kind of bottle and nipple he doesn't like formula either and feeds to fall asleep and is constantly waking up to feed during the night i want to ween him but don't know how i tried the milk in a sippy cup but no! its not the same for them i guess just limit the feedings during the day and give them more food but idk he seems to not want the food just my boob doesnt want anything but breast!! idk how im going to do this i cant stand seeing im cry breaks my heat. its a soothing thing and it passifies them idk what to do!
i would try to make it to a yr why have the added expense of formula when your so close have nursed for 2 yrs and i quit a week and a half ago my daughter also would not eat and wanted to only nurse but also she quit gaining weight she is 2 and 20.2 lbs but she was 19.8 when i weaned in 5 days she gained 10 oz it was surprisingly easy she still pats and kisses my breasts but she does nt try to latch anymore i loved nursing and if she wanted to nurse only at naps i woulda went longer but the second i get home from work or am home on weekend she wanted it in her mouth non stop i am still trying to dry my milk up! good luck
My son loves these bottles, he has to "latch" on just like he would if he was nursing.
I looked around all morning for the breastflow bottles...with no success. So with the suggestion of a lady at toys r us I bought a tommee tippee bottle. After a few minutes of her screaming at the sight of a bottle, I just let her play with it herself. And about five minutes later she drank a full six ounces...YAY!!! So hopefully I found her a bottle.
If you still are looking for those breastflow bottles. I get mine at walmart
ooh if you order online, its free shipping to the store and you can pick it up ther :)
It's so funny that she did it on her own! I used to fight with my son to take his medicine, and one day, I just handed him the little syringe dropper. He immediately put it in his mouth --like everything else --and I just hit the plunger then and he happily took the medicine. :)
I don't have the problem with the bottles, but my son had that tommee tippee one and loved it! I used the transition sippy cup by them too and lost it, and have yet to be able to find another one in stock in a store. :(
