Permalink Reply by samanths hines on October 2, 2012 at 8:23pm Glad you stuck with nursing it still has the same health benifits but if you are wanting to nurse less try to distact her and make bf a night time thing. I am bf my 26month old I had only planned on 6months but being a mother has changed my prespective on many things good luck! Also if you have a facebook visit the leaky b@@b
WOW!! You've been EBF for one whole year! You're amazing and my hero! How do you do it? I must lack that gene cause once my son started throwing hissies around 5 months when I tried to BF him I was done. And so was he. Solids and formula ever since. How do you keep her weight up? How often does she nurse? You dont work do you? You're still my hero...wow..

Permalink Reply by Jia's Mom on October 3, 2012 at 10:57pm I loved breastfeeding my baby. I also breastfed for a year, which included pumping twice a day at work. When I was ready to ween I started giving her breast milk in the bottle and exclusively breastfeeding when I got home. I substituted the bottle for the breast until eventually she was getting the breast only at bedtime and once in the morning before work. I continued the night and morning feeding a few more months because I didn't want to let go not because she wasn't ready. We both gave in at about 15 month and she still cuddles up to me in the same position at bedtime.
No you're wrong. Most women who work outside of the home cannot EBF. Maybe pump and keep their milk up but not EBF. I did not produce enough BM for my son and he was always hungry retrospectively. It was exhausting for me having him at my breast every 2 hours til he was 4 mos so I started giving formula at night and by 4.5 mos he was sttn 11 hrs. I wish I could've cont BF til he was 9-12 mos but he would throw tantrums when I tried to BF and I also started having PPD at 4.5 mos so I just couldn't do it anymore. Also going back to work at 6 mos was a godsend because my PPD got better immed. That's my story and That is why it is so amazing to me.
Permalink Reply by samanths hines on October 8, 2012 at 4:23pm Actually your wrong I am part of the leaky boob on faceboob thousands upon thousands of women work and EBF. Your expreience is not the same as everyone elses bf is painful at first but as a mother you suck it up and stick with it I also struggled with ppd I took the safest meds I could for bf and I breastfed for 26months and worked! After 15months she got cow milk while I worked and bm when I was home. You fed every 2 hrs your lucky I bf every 1-2hrs for 40min-hr every feed my nipples were torn, bleeding, and scabbed I never once supplemented! As a mom gotta do what you gotta do but your son was fighting the breast becasue it is easier to drink from a bottle it takes less work so when you offer bottle more than breast baby can get partial to bottle. Another thing is your correct "some" moms can not pump enough to ebf but "most" just supplement 1 bottle a day and bf when at home and through the night to make up for missed day feeding it is called reversed cycling. Good job for going to 4 months that is always better than non!
