Son climbing over safety gate.....Any suggestions??

Hello everyone,

I would like any/all suggesions on how to handle this situation :) Our son is 2 years old- We just put up a safety gate to his bedroom for bedtime. He is climbing right over the gate and coming into our room at night and climbing right on up into our bed. Our goal is to have him continue to sleep in his own room and not with us. We have tried putting him back into his bed-he climbs back over the gate and comes back into our room.  We try the process all over again with no luck. Prior to this....when he was an infant he would sleep in his crib alone with no problems...but since converting to the toddler bed-He is lower to the floor and has more accessibility to come into our room. Thanks for the advice-Looking forward to it.......

Typical problem. Be glad he comes to your room an not the kitchen or outdie the home. Try using 2 gates stacked. Putting door knob protectors on the indise of door. But always put him back in bed. Never give in. Kinda treat it like a bad behavior that you want to break. If you allow it once, then it's okay. My lo would do this or even get up to sleep in her floor. We just jumped to a twin bed and she will sleep all night but hard to keep her there at first. Good Luck.
Was he escaping the crib? If not just go back to it for a while. My grandkids could escape their cribs easily so their mom had them sleep in a pack and play pen for a while.

Hey Dusteen,

Yes, once he got to the lowest level of the crib (it was a convertible one) he was able to get out of it thus the reason for us converting it to the toddler bed level. We have tried the pack-n-play...he climbs out of that too.......

Child proof door knob cover over his side of the door. We have this and it works like a charm!
