My LO has a rash on his back in the diaper area and the back of his arms and a little on his tummy. I took him to the doctor and she said it is from crawling on the carpet. I am thinking it may be from his bath soap because it seems to get a bright red after a bath. I am thinking the doctor was wrong and I should change his soap. I use Johnson and Johnson now. Any suggestions?

My kids have really sensitive skin. Johnson and Johnson would make them break out in a bumpy/pimply rash all over. If you know anybody who gets Melaleuca products, their Koala Pals body wash is phenomenal. I've also had some success with Cetaphil, but it isn't tear free and doesn't smell nice.

Have u tried to give him benadryl ?? And see if it goes away..... U would maybe try to use something else... But my son gets a rash everytime a new tooth is a out to break though or get a fever... And one or two doses helps him.. always pay attention if u feed him anything new ???? Just some thoughts ... Hopes something helps

If he has no other symptoms (such as fever, etc.) then it could well be an allergy. A tiny (half the recommended!) dose of Benadryl will likely knock him out (it makes you so sleepy), but if the red goes away within half an hour, then it's likely an allergy. Or you could try a tiny spot of allergy-cream-type stuff on his skin and see if that does it.

(Why would he get a rash in his diaper area from crawling on the carpet? Does he rub his diaper-covered parts on the carpet??)

Exactly what I was thinking.

Thank You for your suggestions. The rash is now gone and my little man is fine. Thanks again
