When potty training how often should you take a baby girl to the potty? Like every hour? 2 hours? Etc??

I brought mine every 30 min if they didn't make anything in the potty. If they did every hour an a half or a little longer. Once they start going on it they get the hang of it pretty quickly just the first few days is the hardest. Pull ups didn't work for my three kids who have been trained already. They didn't feel the wetness and acted like it was a diaper. It's good to have those couple of accidents in the beginning. They stop themselves midstream eventually teaching them it ain't comfortable to be wet. The training underpants work well. They soak upa lot of the pee but still " feel " the sensation of the yucky pee on them. Mine only pee peed in those a couple times before learning to stop themselves and hold it till they get to the potty. Also the training diapers that have the feature that turns cold if it gets wet....yeah my kids didn't mind that. Aftere switching to a baby bjorn potty ( those are best just a nice white high back potty costs around 20 bucks) I used a few high end musical ones that my kids used as toys. What a mistake. Put underpants on them and they were potty trained in a week. I did twins at once. Give mini mms as a reward it works.
How old were your kids when they went through the potty training? I found your answer very informative. Mine is just now turning 2 and i have a bit yet, but will try this when he is ready. Thank you.
I started to bring my kids into the bathroom with me to show them how it works at around two so they weren't terrified of it. I let them flush the potty and made it an exciting thing. I would be like...yay mommy just made pee pee anx I'd clap and do all that and they would clap. Then I bought them a potty a couple months later and it made music when something went into the potty. So they started throwing toys in it to help it make music. I did the pull ups for two weeks and was like ... Wow these are just acting as diapers. So I took them out and let them choose their underpants. Huey loved having the choice and putting them on like big boys. I had a clear jar with mini mms in it right outside the bathroom. So they could see the prize for making pee pee. Once I bought the baby bjorn potty and did away with pull ups they were potty trained in about a week to a week and a half. When I went to stores I put diapers on them for about three weeks just to be on the safe side. One of my twins made pee pee in the diaper while going out for the first week then after that no more accidents. So by about 2 and a half they were completely patient. Then my daughter who is one year younger would see all of this that we did with the boys and she wanted to be a big girl so she actually asked me for big girl panties at 2 yes old. She said she was a big girl like her brothers. So with her I didn't have to do anything extra.
I mean trained not patient at 2.5 lol
I took my daughter every 30 minutes. She hated having to stop whatever she was doing to go but didn't understand the feeling of having to pee (poo is definitely easier to feel and understand) so I made her go. I got a potty watch that made things A LOT easier because then it wasn't me telling her to go potty, it was the watch. 2 or 3 weeks with the watch and she pretty much "got" it. She's been potty trained for almost a year now and I still have to remind her sometimes. I read a book that changed my whole thinking on potty training. It said that potty training is a process not an event so it won't be "done" in a few weeks. Basically you'll have to help them go potty until they are way older. My sister in law has to remind my niece sometimes still and she's 5. The website I got the book at is www.thepottytrainer.com. It saved my life after months of battling my daughter so I highly recommend it. Good luck!
Thanks so much I will check out that book definately!!!
monica what kind of watch was it? My LO will be 2 next month & I think she'll like that. She goes potty for #2 when we can get her to so that works out fine most of time though not all of the time. It's the peeing part part I'm concerned with. Maybe that will help.

It's called The Potty Watch. The company's website is www.pottytimeinc.com or you can just google it and see if you can find the best price for it- they are sold at a lot of stores. It's like $11 or $12 but I found a website where I got free shipping. I don't remember what that site is tho cause I bought it almost a year ago. It worked really well for us so good luck for you and your little one! The only thing is that after 3 full weeks of going off every 30 minutes (I turned it off at night for my husband and my sanity) the batteries (there are 2) died and after I had them replaced it never really worked again. But by that time she was good so I didn't worry about it.

Monica,

Thanks! I've looked online and will be getting 2 or 3! My girlfriend has just started hers too. Our little ladies are a month apart and my cousin's son is not too far behind so I think we both will be wearing one. She's very mobile (we live in 3 story townhouse) so between chores and doing everything else that we do sometimes we're not on the same level especially when daddy is home; it's about him then. So having this and hearing loud and clear will at least be a start for us. Thank you again.

I'm so glad you mentioned thepottytrainer.com. I came across the site a few months ago, and I got the free lessons but I was worried about actually ordering the book because it's not a very hi-tech website and I was afraid it was going to be a sham.  I'm relieved to hear of a real person who's actually used it. My daughter is 17 months and we haven't really started the process at all other than her following me to the bathroom and I tell her what I'm doing but she's starting to pull at her diaper which is a good sign.  She also pooped in the bathtub last night and I'd rather avoid that happening again.  I've noticed the few times I was on the potty trainer website that the price always seemed to change but if sign up for the free lessons by email, on the 5th lesson you get a link to download it (it's an e-book) for only $17 which is the lowest price I saw.  I'll definitely order it now that I know it's a real thing.  Thanks!

I am a pre-school teacher and have potty trained children from 18 months to 3 year olds. I would recommend taking her every 15-20 minutes. I know it seems like a lot but the more you take her the better chance you have of her doing it in the potty, you also reduce the chance of her going on her self. What are you using, pull ups or underwear? Underwears work a lot better when potty training. Pull-ups are just like diapers so I dont think they help much. If you train her with under wears, she will learn faster.

Good luck!
