Would you ever do anything with your baby's placenta, i.e. follow the trend of cooking and eating it, or making vitamin pills out of it a la some celebrities? I saw mention of it in the movie Wanderlust last night. Personally, I could never, ever think of eating it, but the vitamin idea *might* not be terrible. Apparently moms think it helps with PPD and postpartum recovery. Here's a link to an old post from Mom365 about it. Would love to hear what you think!
Did you notice any benefits? It would be interesting to hear your experience!
Sometimes some companies use it in cosmetic/hair products. Makes you wonder what happens to it when we throw it away.
Oh that's interesting. I've heard the rumor that Tom Cruise uses it on his face and that's why he's so youthful!
Cool! If you do it you have to let us know if you feel any benefit.
I have heard about this and saw it on TV. It turns out that we are the only mammals that don't eat our placenta after we give birth. I bet it does have good benefits. But I don't think I could ever get my mind around eating it or having it somehow put back into my body through my mouth. I remember after I gave birth, they put my placenta in a ice cream tub looking container and said they had to keep it for 24 hours just incase something went wrong. I was, of course, too exhausted to ask them what they do with all the extra placentas hanging around llol
