My son is almost 17 months and I'm still breastfeeding him. I tried weaning him when he was 14 months by slowly cutting out daytime feedings and saving the first one in the morning and the one before bed. My son became extremely whiny and clingy. I started to get depressed and crying all the time from all of the hormonal changes so I quit trying to wean and went back to regular breastfeeding. Now that I'm back to work (I'm a teacher) I feed him early a.m., after school, and before bed and I don't do any pumping. I would like to try to wean him again. I'm not sure if I should continue to slowly wean him or just stop and let my supply go dry. This is probably one of the hardest parts of breastfeeding. How have other moms done it? What has worked for you? Thanks!

My daughter did the same thing! Even when we got pregnant with our youngest, who is 9months now. I finally weaned my daughter when I was almost 7 months pregnant with my son. She was 2 1/2 at the time, yes I know a very long time to nurse, but I went through the same thing as you, she just wasn't ready. But one night she was nursing and told me, "mommy milk tastes yucky! " I told her then don't have anymore and she said ok and that was that. we both handled it niclely. Now I sit on the couch and nurse my baby while she nurses her dolly, its actually pretty cute.

Maybe just keep the nursing at night if you can or right after work and night. Maybe he is just missing you and wants to be close. I hope I have helped a bit.
My baby is 11 months and I always said I would wean him at a year. Now that the year is getting close and he is Very attached, I too am looking for any suggestions. Please keep us informed on how it goes for you.
