My son was diagnosed with gurd at 2 months old. His doctor told me to add a tablespoon of rice cereal to his bottles. He is exclusively breastfeeding and refuses to suck a bottle. So i cup feed him with a medicine cup. Within an hour he started vomiting. I thought he might be too young to toerate the cereal so i didn't try it anymore. So now he will be 5 months old on the 20th and i guess he hit a growth spurt because he's eating like he did as a newborn and the gurd is worse. I decided to try rice cereal again only spoon feeding and i only gave him 2 teaspoon full. He did the same thing only he vomit so much it was yellow stomach acid. I thought he might be allergic to the rice and i tried the oatmeal and the exact same thing happened. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone? He has his shots in 2 weeks so i will ask the doctor then.

Did the pediatrician give you a prescription for your son?

yes hes on zantac. I was actually looking up food allergies and I found something called fpies and he has every symptom. But from what i read there is no testing for it.

I had the same issue with all 3 of my girls. I was told they had allergys. But all along it was just GERD. My youngest is 4 months on prescription 2 times daily and still cant tolerate nothing but formula and then again I have her on rtf because the powder didn't work in her little belly. She got diarrhea and vomited when given rice and oatmeal. I was told to give her the medicine twice daily and nothing until six months if even then. We tried all kinds of medicine and had lots of side effects. Now with a compound medicine she still vomits but not nearly like it was. My middle one had it so bad she was hospitalized for it. They say it gets worse from six to eighteen months. I have had it since birth and still have issues. Best of luck and ask about going to GI.

Have you considered an elimination diet for yourself?  I thought my son may have had Gerd as well and was getting ready to make him a dr. appt.  I decided to cut out dairy first and it helped him significantly.
