Ok so my LO is just over 6 months old. Shortly after she was born I noticed a marble sized lump and a pea size lump right next to each other near the nipple of my left breast. They are only there when my breasts are full. They are actually visable when they are really full. I brought it up with my OB at my 6 week postpartum appointment. I showed her the difference before and after nursing. She seemed perplexed and said it was probably just a clogged duct. Fast forward 5 months and they are still there. It is odd though because you can't at all feel them when my breast is 'empty'. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is it possible for a clogged duct to last 6 months without becoming infected? Any insight would be helpful! Thanks ladies!

I'm not sure. I've never had that issue, and all told I've nursed my kids for a combined total of almost 4 years so far. It does sound like it's your ducts, otherwise the lumps wouldn't get bigger or smaller depending on how much milk you have at the moment.

You could read this article from kellymom http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/recurrent-mastitis/ and see if any of the advice there sounds helpful. Though, if it's just lumps and they never get sore or hot, and they go away after a feeding,  I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks Jen! I ended up seeing the doctor and she doesn't seem to concerned. She said that since they are not there when I 'empty' that is probably the ducts. She said to just watch for changes and alert her if I become concerned :)
