hi! i'm looking for feedback on jogging strollers. the most important thing in my search is height. my husband and i are both 6'3" so we'd like one that will accommodate us comfortably - or ideally has some kind of adjustable handlebar.

any suggestions would be a big help. it seems like there are so many out there online, but i've yet to find a store in our area with a good selection to try out in person (which is what i'd really like to do!)

thanks! :)

We have a 2005 Camry and the Baby Trend fits fine with enough room around it for groceries or a couple of small suitcases.

One thing to know about the Baby Trend (I think ours is the Expedition): when we were reading reviews a few people complained that when they started jogging the wheel would wobble and one woman even said her stroller toppled right over! Upon further investigation we realized these were the people who didn't know you have to lock the front wheel if you start running. It's really important to remember this. A couple of times early on I took off from a walking speed to jogging without locking the wheel and the thing lurched and jiggled and my daughter almost went over. Again, mine probably isn't the one for you if you're a serious runner. I think the BOBs or something along those lines are best for that. If I recall correctly ours was under $200 and that included the jogger/carrier travel system and two bases for our two cars...so it's great for a more casual runner like myself. Good luck finding the right thing for your needs!
thanks! oh i think i'd definitely classify myself as a casual runner. my husband and i used to do 5Ks before i got pregnant, and i had aspirations of one day running a half marathon - but i'm FAR from that now. like, right now running a mile is probably even out of the question. i'd like to get back into it, though, b/c it was something my husband and i liked to do together.

reviews are funny that way. you really have to take them with a grain of salt. it seems like people either love something or they hate it. and usually when they hate it it's b/c they didn't know how to use it correctly. :)
I have four children and have used many different types of strollers, two different joggers. I guess you could say I have a "stroller fetish". My most recent purchase was an Instep off Walmart.com for like $120. The original MSRP on the stroller was like $179 so I guess it's like a mid-grade type jogger. It has an adjustable handle with 3 or 4 different levels so it seems like it could accomodate a pretty tall person. It seems sturdy so far and has met all my expectations. The Instep joggers have mp3 player hook-ups also which is neat. I'm not a hiker or jogger, I just like the maneuvaribility of a jogger, and the fact that it can go "off-road" onto the soccer fields and such. If you are looking for a stroller to use and love, an Instep would be a good choice. However, what I've found with strollers and resale value is this; unless you want to wipe down the tires everytime you close it up, the stroller is going to get dirty. No one wants to pay much for a dirty stroller no matter what brand it is. You have to spend a lot of time and energy keeping your stroller in clean condition to resale it later. I find it hard to juggle a baby (and 3 other kids in my case) and load a big, heavy jogger in the first place. I couldn't imagine having to wipe down the tires too! Plus you'd have to be picky about your child eating in it as well. The good thing about ordering off Walmart.com is you can have it sent to the store for free and then if you don't like it, just return it to the store. I had mine sent to my house for $0.97! The Instep was very easy to put together, but is very heavy. That is my only complaint. I know this was long, but I hope it helps!
Christi,
Our Valco Baby Tri-Mode Twin and the toddler seat fit easily into the back of our Honda Odyssey, along with a cooler and all the luggage for my husband, myself and our 3 kids age 3 and under for a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's this weekend. I realize that an Odyssey has more trunk space than a Camry, but I'm confident that you would be able to fit any Valco stroller into your trunk. I was just telling my sister-in-law this morning when we took 5 of our 6 (between the two of us) kids to the farmers market, one of the things I really love about our Valco is how easily and quickly it folds up and unfolds.
I was also able to lift it in and out of our Odyssey easily when I was at the end of the pregnancy with my third child. We store the stroller in the back of our van because we
don't have a garage or a basement with easy access. I was just looking up the weights of some single joggers and our Tri-Mode Twin weighs about the same as many single joggers.
I personally feel like these jogging strollers that have "resale value" are built well enough that you can still 'use the tires off' of the thing and still be able to get something for it when you're done. My stroller gets very dirty because we use it so much (and I rarely take/have the time to clean it up), my kids are constantly eating in it and I still feel like we'll be able to sell it when we're done with it. Even if we don't get any money back for it, it was STILL worth every penny we spent. :)
I bought a double Chariot at REI a couple of years ago. It is a fairly spendy, but worth the money. It converts to a number of different things, including walking stroller, running stroller, bike carrier, and cross country skiing stroller. The kits are sold separately. The handle is adjustable. The only problem is I am not sure how easily it would fit into the trunk of a car. We have a Jeep Liberty and it fits in the back of that. However, they do sell it in a single version. It is a great quality stroller that we use for everything. I love it!
We have a double BOB and it's wonderful for walking or jogging. I've had problems in the past with strollers being very short which makes me have to bend over to push them-I'm 5ft 10- and the BOB is tall enough with inches to spare!
I have the expedition. My husband is 6'1 and we both luv it. The only thing is you need to have a large vehicle due to the size of the stroller.
so i know it's been a while since i started this thread, but we've been in the process of a move and renovation so unfortunately a jogging stroller fell to the bottom of the priority list. now that things have slowed down a bit, though, i finally made a decision and ordered a stroller (still didn't find a place to try one out in person, but oh well).

i decided to go with the BOB revolution. i did check with the local bike store and while they didn't carry them in the store, a few guys there added more recommendations for the brand, so i went ahead and went with it. it'll be here friday, so i'll have to give a report on how it goes! :) thanks again for all the feedback ladies!!
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!

i've had to play with the alignment a bit when i have the front wheel locked, and i'm definitely going to have to get the handlebar console accessory b/c there's no storage for waterbottles or ipods up on top, but other than that i have zero complaints. it's a breeze to steer (it did take some getting used to jogging with it while the front wheel was locked), it's SO much lighter than my graco and it even fits in both our cars (my graco doesn't fit in my husband's trunk). i'm SO glad i went with this one. thanks again for all the help, ladies!
Yay! The BOB parent console is great, btw. I even got it for our Baby Jogger. :)
