A bunch of my friends are all on the baby-making train, lol. Two got pregnant right away (and are due within a week of each other), another has been trying for a year, another has been trying about 3 months. I'm at about 9 months of trying. My son was an accident so I'm new to this waiting game. How long did it take for you to conceive?

My husband and I have been fortunate.  It took us about 2 months the first time and this second time it was pretty much immediate.  My sister has been trying for about 2.5 years...just had a miscarriage, but she is trying again.  Good luck to you!

a year and a half both times, but with losses. My daughter was conceived on the 10th cycle of trying, and was really an accident. I had just had an HSG (where they inject dye into your uterus to see if your tubes are blocked) and was supposed to take the month off to wait for results. We had unprotected sex once, almost 6 days before I ovulated. I used an OPK, so I know it was that long. That's really the way outer limits of how long sperm is supposed to survive, so, it was surprising, but awesome.

I hear so many stories from women who have gotten pregnant either the same cycle as having an HSG, or the one after, so you might want to ask your OB to send you for one. It will rule out any physical problems preventing conception and/or implantation, and it could also give your fertility a little boost. Plus, it doesn't hurt any more than a pap smear, so, why not?

Interesting, I haven't heard that before! I have to get an HSG next week, so I'll keep that in mind ;). But I think my issue is hormonal instead of "plumbing."

Both my pregnancies were an accident.  Because I was diagnosed with graves disease (thyroid) at a young age, my Dr. said I would have problems trying to conceive, but when the time came we could discuss possible options.  At that time I was young and didn't think much of it, other than believing I just simply would not get pregnant... I actually came to terms with the whole idea and thought I'd never have children.  So at 19, I got pregnant after about 3 months with no form of BC.  After that I was on birth control pill and 5 years later (while still on BC) I got pregnant with twins in 2010.  I did end up switching birth control b/c of that!  It would have been nice to plan a pregnancy, like go through the excitement of planning and trying to conceive... but we only ever wanted 3 children and we have our 3!  At the end of the day, I am thankful and feel very blessed that God gave me the ability to conceive... even if it wasn't planned.

It took us only 2 months, which really surprised me. I thought for sure it would take longer.

It took us 3 yrs with our little girl that is 7 months old now. We hope to try for #2 in the next few months!

My dear son is my favorite accident.  I wasn't trying.  In fact, I was actively trying to prevent it (same pill, taken religiously for five years).  I am so glad that it happened though.  That kid is my life :)

After 2 miscarriages in 1 yr it took us 2 yrs to finally get pregnant, which we weren't trying. Our princess was a huge surprise.
It actually took me and my husband five years to finally conceive. We had actually sort of quit trying when it happened. I mean I wasn't taking any birth control or anything but I have a condition called PCOS or polysistic ovary syndrome.

First time, 3 months, second 2 years, 3rd 1 year!

First baby took 2 years but that was due to me being on the shot for a long time prior & it took that long to clear out of my system. Current pregnancy took about 10mo, less than a year after my first...

My daughter wasn't planned but it had been about a year 1/2 of unprotected sex. Second was 1 year unprotected and 6 months actively trying!
