My daughter just turned 15 months. She will eat all the puffs, snacks, etc. that we give her. She will also eat bread and french fries. However, virtually any other type of table food we give her, she immediately spits back out - chicken, macaroni and cheese, vegetables, etc. She won't eat the third stage baby foods, either, only the second stage. She can't eat baby food forever, and I'm frustrated. Help!

It depends on when you started baby food and tried the transition to table foods. I did baby food at 6 months and soft table foods at 12. By 15 months my lo ate some pasta and mashed potatoes, etc but very soft foods. No chicken, beans, or table veggies. She is somewhat a picky eater at 31 months. I offer dipping sauce with things she won't eat. (katchup, mustard, ranch) But don't stress it could be a texture thing. My nice won't eat certain food because it 'feels funny'. That is crazy to me. The puffs and french fries stage is frusterating. I bought so many of those things till really I could care less to every see one again. If you can't get all the nutrients in her meals... I reccoment carnation good start mixed with her milk. It's like pedisure or a does of vitamins, or a balanced liquid meal. My daughter was on this for a while. She refused her vitamins. I still give her some at least once a week because she won't take vitamins.

Make eating a game. Kids love things that are fun. Me and hubby would (and still do) play fight over who gets to eat daughters food when she is being difficult. Dad will steal very small bites and I'll throw a fit and say how he can't that's the babies. She'll eat so he won't take anymore. Childish... I know but she is tryin new things and will give them a chance. Good Luck I know ya'll will be fine.

Just keep offering them. She might not be quite ready for the consistencies yet. My daughter was the same way, but now a few months later she loves broccoli, snap peas, beans, carrots, etc.

My son (13 months) is somewhat picky too. I know it's hard but we just have to keep trying. Try the same things again and try new things. We started "solids" at 8 months and at first he loved sweet potatoes and now he won't eat them at all. He also hated cottage cheese and now loves it. It can be frustrating but you can't give up. I just think as longs as they eat something it is better than nothing and eventually it will change. Also, as long as they aren't losing weight and still have plenty of energy than they are getting enough. I did start giving him a multi-vitamin though since he doesn't eat a big variety of foods or vegetables.

My lil boy is almost 17 months old...and it wasnt until he started getting teeth that he became a picky eater...he ate all the baby food flavors and the puffs and yogurt snacks. I started him on 3rd stage food at around 9 months. Its taken a couple different ways to get him to eat certain fruits and veggies..i normally hide it in foods that he likes...dunno how it works but it does for the most part. They also have these gerber grabbers, they are a puree of a serving of fruits and veggies, those are good too. Ive just found that my son loves chicken. Another tip, you could try is have them feed themselves. Thats how i transitioned from baby food to solids. But best advice is just keep trying and not give up, will get frustrating but eventually they'll give in :) im still finding new ways to get my son to eat things he needs to. Like today for example, i got him to eat apples, dipped em in a lil bit of carmel and he gobbled it up!
