Will you/did you take your little ones to see fireworks? How did it go? Were they scared, did they love it, or did you skip it because you didn't want to risk them freaking out?

Our neighbors let them off every year..... lots of neighbors.  We brought our 21 month old son outside and he loved them.  He was so excited to see them.  He kept pointing to the sky and saying/screaming WHOA!  My nephew was afraid for a long time, he would say that they hurt his ears.  I think his parents talked about it too much.  They would tell him how loud they would be, but not to be scared, etc.  They wouldn't shut up about them, so I think they caused his fear inadvertently.  For anyone who is still debating on taking their child/children somewhere this weekend, just tell them you will see fireworks in the sky and leave it at that.  If they get scared, leave.  No big deal.  They will grow out of it.

One of my boys was scared... he stayed very far away, he even got scared of the smoke from the smoke bombs.  My other son could have cared less, he was more worried about running around finding stuff to get into.

My son's 8 months old and at first I wasn't going to take him, but my parents talked me into it. He did pretty well until the grand finale when a bunch of fireworks went off at once. I think it hurt his ears more than anything though. I know it hurt my ears, so I'm guessing that's what made him cry. But he was fine once I got him out of his stroller.

We went to my niece's and they had them across the street. I tried to nurse my 5mo as it started and he was not interested! He just kept turning to see the fireworks.
My girls love it but my other son gets scared, he's 3.5.

our town's fireworks don't start until 10 and from what we've heard it's not a very good show so we weren't going to try and keep our son up. we had a family cookout last night, though, and we shoot off some good stuff then. my son slept through them his first year (he was 8 mo old on his first 4th), liked them last year and was a bit anxious at first this year, but then after the first couple went off he enjoyed them. it was funny, though. he didn't want to get too close (i mean, we were already probably 75 yards away from where my dad and husband were lighting them) so he stood behind my MIL's chair and just said "ooh, that was a pretty one" after each one went off - though my MIL said he still jumped each time. :)

My son's almost 3, and he loved them! He kept asking where the guys were though...I think he thought there might be firefighters involved!

My son is 8 months & we took him to watch the fireworks at our local high school. He absolutely loved them. Was so amazed by the sounds & bright colors.

My 22 month old LOVED the fireworks :)

My son does not like sudden loud noises. However on this wonderful day, he observed in awe at the variety of sparks, noises, and colors intertwined. Of course as he clung to daddy

I was two days from delivery, but we took my 1 1/2 year old niece. She LOVED them!! She laid down with her head on a pillow and cuddled up in between me and her mom. She was actually sad when they were done.
