What are some of your kid's favorite TV shows?
Both of my kids are obsessed with Max & Ruby. My favorite is Backyardigans, so I let them watch that, but they don't like it as much as Max & Ruby (which I can't stand!)

Now after a week of grandma's and hotel rooms he loves Sponge Bob Square Pants. I'm ok with the show, it's the commercials I can't stand! Anything I turn on for him is on public television for that reason. The commercials aimed at children are terrifying!
Permalink Reply by dentalgirl on October 10, 2012 at 12:20pm Yes my dd looooves Max and Ruby too!. Ruby is such a bossy little b**ch isn't she?! Ni Hao is another favorite here and Super Why. They make a lot of Max and Ruby books that dd loves too.
my lil one loves watching signing time on pbs, shes one years old and is always trying to copy the movements they teach for words in sign language and then tries to do them even after watching the show
Permalink Reply by Honeybee421 on October 12, 2012 at 9:40am Right now it's Sesame Street hands down! My DD is 17 1/2 months and like all little ones she's obsessed with Elmo. I'm glad she is realizing that everyone on the show isn't Elmo. She also is in love with Abby and Cookie Monster. So all day she is saying Elmo, Abby, and making the Cookie Monster eating sound "Nom nom nom." It's so cute!! LOL
And, dentalgirl, I totally agree about Max and Ruby. Ha! She just annoys me to know end. So condescending to poor little Max! Also, where are their parents????? So Glad DD isn't into to it, at least not yet anyway...
Permalink Reply by MamaHolly on October 13, 2012 at 10:46pm my son is in love with yo gabba gabba. He requests it and talks about it constantly. Those songs are so darn catchy! I wake up with them stuck in my head. ugh...
Permalink Reply by amg1286 on October 15, 2012 at 4:07am My 1 year old daughter, Kyrie, is IN LOVE with Blue's Clues! She wont really pay attention to much else we put on TV, but Blue's Clues is her absolute favorite! We bought one of those cheap $5 dvd's at Walmart with 2 episodes on it, and since the first time she saw Blue, the puppy, she was hooked. She gets a big grin on her face and claps every time the show comes on, and she'll stand up and dance when Joe is singing. The only other thing she'll actually sit and watch are her "Your Baby Can Read" videos. We started having her watch those when she was 3 months old, and she watches them twice a day, every day. She absolutely LOVES them, and they are great because they are educational. We can tell are really paying off! She was saying 7 or 8 words by the time she turned 1, whereas her doctor said most 1-year-old's are only saying "Mama", "Dada", and maybe 1 other word at that time. We swore we would not get in the habit of just "plopping" her down in front of the TV and letting her watch all day... but we let her watch 1-2 episodes of Blues Clues a day, plus 2 of her YBCR videos.
You guys are right about having the shows we can't stand. I can't stand Dora the Explorer (I think it's over-rated).. and I really hope she doesn't fall "in love" with Dora one day... but if she does I guess I will have to deal.. *sighhh* haha.. :)

Permalink Reply by CopperTop on October 16, 2012 at 11:11pm My 17 month old loves anything that has music...especially Yo Gabba Gabba & the Fresh Beat Band. I can't wait til he moves on to something else because those are 2 of my least fave shows on Nick Jr.! My husband had Hee Haw (yes I said Hee Haw) on today & my son went crazy for the banjo pickin'. :)
Permalink Reply by Graysons_mommy on December 5, 2012 at 5:28pm To be honest, mine doesn't really watch TV (he's only 5 months old). However, I watch little kid shows because I don't want him listening to the language or seeing the violence in grown up shows (even though I know he is too young to understand it). My favorite's are: Dinosaur Train, Sid The Science Kid, Word World, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sesame Street, and Cat In The Hat. If these aren't on I usually have on a movie: Brave, Despicable Me, or How To Train Your Dragon.
