My LO is 8 weeks old, and I have been trying very hard to only breastfeed her. In the evenings she is super hungry so I do supplement with formula (about an ounce or 2, 2x a night) I've been trying to pump so I don't have to use formula and to have for when we travel. When I pump after a feeding I get not even enough to cover the bottom of the bottle. When I try to pump an hour or 2 after a feeding I usually get hardly an ounce between both breasts. It's very rare that I get the 'let down' feeling when pumping. I've been taking Fenugreek for about 2 weeks to try to up my supply. In the last few days I've been eating oatmeal, increasing my fluids.. anything that I think will help. She seems to be getting enough during the day by BF only...

I have a Medela single pump... Any thoughts??

I also breastfeed and just had a single pump that only cost about $30. I could never get more than 2 ounces out with the pump. I also blamed the pump. I have heard that you can rent good ones from hospitals and buy your own tubes and accessories. Maybe try doing that before investing in an expensive pump and see if it actually is the pump.

Get a hand's free pumping bra. You have to sit back and relax. Read, watch tv, etc. It's hard work to relax and hold onto those pumps. Don't let the pump be the judge of what you can produce. It's ok to supplement with formula too, don't stress about it!
