My 2 year old son is an extremely happy and energetic kid who loves to sleep. On a typical day he will sleep 11-12 hrs at night and nap for 3-4 hrs. The problem is, he just moved into the 'big kid' room at daycare (2-3 year olds) and can not get more than 60-90 min of a nap with these older kids screaming and running around. He has not been himself since he moved up last week and is always cranky and fussy now :(
How do I get my happy boy back?

Permalink Reply by TLTV on July 25, 2012 at 11:12am We moved his bedtime up 20 minutes but I think you are right, we should continue to move it earlier. My husband and I just cherish every minute we get with him after work so it 's hard to say good night early.

And since he has learned to tune out the noise of the other kids, he sleeps later than all of them too and has resumed his 3 hour nap.
I'm beginning to think if I can just be a little more patient, he will solve all of his problems himself.
That's great. I was going to suggest talking to the daycare teacher. One of my daughter's friends kept napping after the rest of the class had outgrown it (in the 4 year old room). Her school accommodated him by letting him nap in the 3 year old room. Most good daycare centers will try to accommodate these kinds of needs. After all, it's not in their best interest to have a kid whose over tired and feeling cranky either.
