I think the pediatrician has to diagnose colic. My son had terrible constipation issues when he was young, came to find out he didnt tolerate the dairy I was eating that was making its way into my breastmilk. Are you breastfeeding? If so you might try cutting out all dairy (milk, cheese, yogart, etc), spicy food and caffeine and see if that helps. You might also try Gripe Water (Mommy's Bliss brands the best), it helped soothe my sons discomfort.

I've never had to deal with colic, thankfully. It's a topic that comes up frequently, so if you want to check out what other moms have had to say about it, you can look here: http://www.mom365.com/Search/CommunitySearchResults.aspx?q=colic

I found that she does Alot better sleeping on her tummy I know it's not right but she actually gets sleep and it's less stress on the both of us
Good luck. I really feel your stress and wish you the best. For every baby it is different. My husband read every article, order all kids of stuff, tried the colic hold (on tummy) and I don't think anything helped. The best advice was make sure they aren't hungry, sleepy, and all needs are met. Secure baby in crib or we used the car seat and walk away for a min. Don't stress it will pass. Watch what you eat if breastfeeding, different food upset babies more. (onions, broccoli, hispanic foods) Your baby could be lacto sensitive. Once we moved to formula it had to be soy. Check with the DR to make sure it isn't reflux. My daughter was diagnosed with both. Good Luck! Watch your stress levels and keep someone on speed dial to talk to.
Also if it is reflux the tummy may not be best. That is why we had to put her in the car seat to sleep for a while. Talk over everything with your pedi...
I went to the doc and they didn't say she had anything so I was glad that it was just a phase and happy we got through it
