Ok I'm at the breaking point... My 4 month old wont sleep for very long unless she is on her belly. Also for the past month or so she doesnt think its bed time until 5 am or later. I asked her doctor.who really didnt have an answer. Ive tried having her sleep less during her naps but that doesnt help.

I know what you mean. My 19 month old still thinks it's funny to stay up late. He knows he needs to go to sleep but he'll fight it until around 4. He only takes one nap during the day so you would think he should be tired but no. When he was around 5/6 months I used to sit at the edge of the bed every night and hold him tight and bounce a little and hum, it would work and he would fall asleep. Maybe you can try that. His swing would always put him to sleep also.
Hopefully one of those works for you.

If she's a belly sleeper, I'd say let her sleep on her belly. Especially if that's the only way she'll sleep for very long. Is she to the point where she can roll over on her own? If not, you can always get an angelcare monitor so that you don't have to worry about SIDs. Check too, to see if she's teething or constipated as both of those can interrupt sleep patterns. If she's going through a growth spurt, she could also be keeping you up simply because she's hungry and not getting enough to eat during the course of the day she she's trying to make up for it at night.

Good luck! And keep in mind that the sleepless nights won't last forever. Eventually, she will grow out of this. ;3

I had the belly sleeping problem with my son, at about the same age. Everyone told me that if he can get himself onto his
tmmy, he is ok to sleep that way. That didn't mean I liked it, but every time I rolled him over he would wake up!!
As far as bed time, we always made sure we had a bedtime routine. Lights out, no tv on, and relaxing time. We aways made sure that nap time we had his room a little brighter and there was some noise, so that he knew it was just a nap. I think that really helped him distinguish a routine. He is 18 months now, taks a 2-3 hour nap, and sleeps 11 hours at night.
My baby is almost 6 months old and has been sleeping on her belly since 3 months when she began rolling over. At first I worried, (had her sleeping in bassinet next to my bed) but now it's routine and it's the only way she will sleep for an extended amount of time. On her back she only lasts 20-30 minutes....but what I found very helpful is getting her routine down. She eats veggies around 630 pm, plays with her toys until 730-8, eats rice cereal or oatmeal, takes a warm bath with lavender wash, I give her a baby massage with lavender lotion (can see her relaxing immediately), then it's lights out with soft lullaby music playing and she is out by 9-930 at the latest until 630-7am. Tried skipping the bath a couple weeks ago, big mistake, up at 2 & 4! Is she teething possibly? I hope you get some relief soon!

Hi! Was she teething? My 5 month old has her two bottom teeth already!

No, she has not gotten anymore since July 24th. She has the bottom two also. Pediatrician said her upper gums appear to be swollen a couple weeks ago, but I have not noticed any white showing yet, but lots of slobbering again.
My daughter didn't have a set routine at 4 months. I got a Uniden Wireless security camera. It does day/night vision with sound and wireless camera and monitor (needs charging) to watch my daughter when we tried to get a routine. It's important not to have anything that will stimulate her. No night lights, noise makers, TV, not near windows or AC Units. All can keep her awake. Make the room and dull boring place for sleep. Eventually being in the dark alone there is no option but to sleep. Lay her down and walk away. Fight the urge to get her when crying as long as you know she's safe, clean, and not hungry. It's sleepy time. Lavender really works to help sleepy time. We use the lavender bath soap and shampoo still.
My 3 month old son sleeps with the tv and fan on at night and sleeps 12 hrs. Nap time the tv is on and his 1yr old and 6yr old cousins run through the house screaming, playing the piano and just playing. He sleeps through it. But if ur baby rolls over then she's able to move her head while on her belly to go fresh air
Thanks for all the help guys!! I am trying alot of different things i will keep you all posted on the progress
btw where I said no stimulation in the room for sleep time... This can be a bad thing later. My daughter will nap in the car but needs peace and quiet to nap laying down. If she can't have that she will not take a nap. But this is how I sleep and it worked for her. So keep in mind that a radio in background could be useful but might now work. Good Luck
She's a sillybbavy anyways. She sleeps with a box fan just like everyone in my family. In the car she won't sleep unless you have the radio up a bit and if you turn it off and its quiet she wakes up. Lol
Hi Deidre,

I have an almost 6 month old baby girl. The first almost 3 months she would go to sleep at 9 or so and woul wake at 2 and then at 430. This was when I was exclusively breastfeeding. The pedi told me from the beginning to start by getting every dark with no talking it was tough because as I would put her down she would cry. I stuck it out and would put her to bed at around 730 to 8pm after feeding. I was getting up at 430 still so the pedi told me to let her cry which was hard. But sometimes it would be the whimpering but I held back and at about three months she started sleeping until 530 then to about 630 am. Now she will go the latest until about 7. What is your sleeping routine, bath, feeding, etc. ?
