Hi, With my first son I had problems bathing him in our bath tubs at home. I borrowed my sisters baby bath tub, which was nice and it worked great for her, but not me. The bath tubs in our house are sort of like the bath fitter. They require special, soft cleansers, they never mold, and you can't attach any kind of slip resistant pads on the bottom. I feel dumb for not knowing what kind of tub it is exactly, they were already in the house when we bought it. The baby bath tub would always move all over the place! It was so hard to bathe my son. I have another baby on the way and I want to find one that will stay put. I don't want to buy one if it won't work. Anyone else have/had that problem? I know I could use the sink, but that only works for so long. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
I think I found the solution to my baby bath tub problem! I just happened to look at something online and I saw an article about choosing the right tub. The article mentioned a baby bath pad or sponge. I searched for that and I found that the bath pads were almost like contoured pillows. They are designed to be hung up and they dry quickly. They also do not mold or anything. That would stay in place for sure! The foam pads don't seam as nice, so I may check out the bath pad. If you're having a similar issue, google it and check them out!
When my baby girl was a tiny thing, I used one of the mesh sling-style bathers:
We have a big kitchen sink so it fit there, then as she got a bit bigger we would use it in the tub....we would even fill the water enough so her little bottom would be submerged then cover the rest of her with a wet cloth to keep her warm while we bathed her. Then, once she was a sturdy sitter, I found an inflatable baby bathtub did the trick!
I fill it about half full with water and the simple weight of the water keeps it in place inside the tub. After we're done I just give it a quick rinse and prop it up in the tub to dry, simple as that. She toddling now and absolutely LOVES her baths, she even loves to watch me empty it and waves "bye-bye" to the suds as they drain out of the big tub :)
(P.S. - Not a plug for Walmart or anything, just happens to be where I knew I could find the links!)
I brought the bath chair. I really enjoyed being able to put water in the tub, like a bath; but my son is in the chair. I think that it works well and my son is 7 months and I just stoped using it at everybath. To me it was easy to use and as a newborn I left the pillow attached that added support. Never molded, and drys pretty quick if you just leave it in the tub for a while. Folds up to travel..... got it from walmart.
Hi, I used one of the sponges for all 3 of mine and it worked just great, it keeps them nice and secure when tiny and when they learn to sit up it stops their bottom slipping forwards if they lean back. Its very inexpensive and works well as they are already used to the big bath when they have outgrown it. They sell it at target.
I have the whale of a tub for at the sink and I like that because there is a divider in the tub that comes out for when they are big enough to sit by themselves and then for the bath tub I got the big blow up duck! I got it at target and love that I think I used that till my son was 1 year old it didnt slip in the tub and has a suction cup on the bottom!
My husband and I found this website and we weren't really sure what brands were the best or what type we wanted or anything like that. We found this website and we really liked that the top heading on it was the top rated safety infant bathtubs so that made us feel a little bit better about purchasing one from a website and a brand we hadn't really heard of! it's worked great for us and it doesn't move at all! here's the website:
