My son is 5 months 2 weeks old. He has had a great appetite since he was born. I recently introduced solids into his diet. I've read that you should only give babies 1 tablespoon of fruits/veggies a day, but my son seems still hungry after 1 tablespoon so I usually give him a little more. But I dont want to "over feed" him. Any thoughts?

My daughter at 17 months can eat the better part of a 6" sub and still want more, so I'll fill her up on milk or water if I think she's had enough. She's still skinny!

I will just feed him until he seems full and I will discuss it with his doctor at his 6 month check up next month. I'm just worried about the weight thing too, but I'm just feeding him fruits, veggies, and oatmeal so how big can he get? lol.

One other thing I did: I started introducing my daughter to baby cereal at around that time, and would mix a tub of fruit or veggies with the cereal and formula to help stretch out the cereal. She loved that too. Along with that, I'd add a bit of seasoning (cinnamon or nutmeg or w/e for fruit, oregano or dill for veggies) to give the food a little more flavor. The result? Now she doesn't fuss when eating fresh veggies like spinach. <3

Permalink Reply by sacorra on January 2, 2013 at 7:49pm girl your the mother id do what you think is best!!!! i feel like i feed my baby a lot of food (shes a big baby to), but she knows when shes hungry and when shes full!! i started feeding her at 4mths (shes 11mths now) and i fed her a half of jar of fruit mixed with rice cereal and 1oz breast milk and at night the same with veggies. im pretty lucky nothing seems to bug her. the oat mill cereal constipated her a little. prunes worked good for that. just do what you feel is best.
