I have a 22 month old son and lately every morning and after he wakes up from his nap he has been taking his pants and diaper off and throwing them on the floor. Usually I go get him up shortly after he wakes up. Although lately he has been doing it everyday. I've tried putting onesies on him along with pants, tried overalls thinking it would be harder for him to get them off. I've even tried slip on diapers and he still gets them off. The worst part is he even takes his diaper off when he has poop in it and he gets it all over his crib. I'm at a loss of how to prevent him from doing it. It seems I can never get into his room fast enough to change him before he takes his diaper off. Wondering if any one else has this problem or has any suggestions on what I can try. I've tried everything I can think of with no success.

duck tape... Lol

I know it sounds crazy but mu daughter would get up in the middle of the night and do the same thing. We had to tape not all the way around but just past each hip. Make sure the tape doesn't get on skin. The #2 art is a bad stage that no one told me about.

Cut the feet out of footie pajamas and turn them backwards so the zipper and snap is in the back, can't reach it then!

I've used the big cloth diaper safety pins to pin the diaper tight on my little one. Worked pretty good for us.

My daughter was doing the same thing for awhile but she's a little younger I had to keep telling her
No and leave shorts or pants on her at all times sounds like he might be ready to be potty trained

Yeah I've been trying with the potty training however little easier said than done. I also have a 5 month old and harder to get my oldest to the potty. Normally when my oldest has to go is when im feeding my youngest. Also I'm the only one thats usually home with the kids because my husband is a truck driver and is gone 4-5 weeks at a time. When hes home I can keep up with the potty training because I have the extra hands and when hes gone it seems I cant get into a schedule.

But I will try the other suggestions and see how that goes. Thanks for all the suggestions every one

so maybe you should have the potty ready during feeding time and make it a routine...every time you feed the baby put the oldest on the potty.

My two year old son is now doing the same thing with his diaper. My family says he is officially ready for potty training, because he no longer wants the wet or dirty diapers on.  I'm trying to find his signals so that I will know when to sit him on the pot.  I'm hoping since he is taking diapers off then training shouldn't be a hassle.  I place pants or shorts on him usually and this seems to work. It prevents him from pulling off his diaper.  I hope this helps you and wish you the best.

I do have this problem with my daugther but not as often or as bad. However, we started potty training since this started (when she was 18 months) and she now does it when she sees the potty infront of her or when getting ready for her shower.

She understands how the toiled works (she flushes after her sister is done) and tries to imitate. Perhaps your soon in NOT confortable when wet which is GREAT because you will be able to potty train him better and faster. Don't try to convince him that using or keeping the diaper is best or he will get TOO confy in them and will be hard to potty train.   Although I have lots of friends that had boys and all these boys took longer than my 6 year old girl to get this mastered. My understanding is that boys take longer because "the logistics" are different for them.

I would take him to his potty once he wakes up and before going to sleep in the night or for a nap and find out the hour he goes poop and take him to his potty minutes before that.  BUT 1st start with DVDs that talk to little kids about using the potty, read books to him about this, show him a new potty and how to use it, reward him, letting try the training pants during the day (not the pull-ups), etc. My daughter watches Elmo going potty (a DVD) and reads a book about a girl that goes potty too. Try all that.

I hope this will make him take the diaper off only when he sees his potty (like my daughter does). I truly think he is more than ready for the potty! :-)

my son is 22 months old too and he does the same thing but he does it all day almost everyday he pretty much knows how to get all of his clothes off to take off his diaper also he takes it off even when isnt wet or anything he tries to use potty but i think he is more fascinated with the flushing rather than using the potty he is getting a big boy potty soon and im hoping he will start and get it mastered soon.

My son is 22 months as well and he takes his diaper off, poopy ones and all. It disen't matter what I put on him, he knows how to take it off. I think It's a phase they go through

Maybe it is time to start potty training him and getting away from a diaper all together.

my son is actually potty training himself or trying to atleast
