You will get a lot of mixed answers on that. My daughters pedi said absoutly No food or cereal before 6 months. Their digestive system needs this time to mature. Food allergies increase and the risk of obesity increases so much percent every day before 6 months. But some moms wil say it's fine. My daugter breastfed and fed a lot. I think increasing the formula is fine. But it's best to talk to his Dr. If you do try it start very slow and if he spits up, it's to soon.

Your son is probably just going through a growth spurt.  It happens pretty frequently throughout their first year.  I don't think cereal or rice is the answer at 11 weeks.  Just feed him until he isn't hungry.  Babies know when they've had enough and will let you know.

Thanks guys for the replies.. i was thinking the same thing. I am just going to feed him the formula and then mayb later do the rice or cereal thing..

My pedi recommended light food at 4 months old and my baby was a hearty size and always hungry since birth. Let's just say she ate 8 oz. of formula when they took her to the nicu after birth. You could also add the cereal to a bottle of breast milk or formula and increase the hole size in the nipple fir it tonpass through but ONLY if your pedi says it is okay.

thanks Marlena. im going to start to add a little rice when he is about 14wks..

When you do add in cereal be especially cautious if you decide to mix it with the formula as it can pose a choking hazard.  My pediatrician and lactation consultant both recommend feeding cereal with a spoon and avoiding putting it in a bottle.  I've always been told if they aren't old enough to eat it off of a spoon then they aren't ready for it.  Best of luck to you!

When my daughter was 6 months it was 'okay' to put a very small amount in bottles, but about 8 months her Dr came back and said No and still says don't add anything to a drink. He said I can spoon feed like Sweetmama said.
Just check with pedi before. I believe the recommended age is 6months, About 26wks. And onlt with a spoon, after sitting up with good head control. Good Luck.
Every pediatrician is different... I gave my daughter cereal and he was only 4 weeks old I then took her to the doctor he said "everything looks great your doing a great job, let's start her on cereal at 4 months"( I didn't tell him I started her I. Cereal already b/c I didn't want to be lectured why I shouldn't have done that) if they are eating that much then they need something thicker to hold for longer... I tried like 1 teaspoon first to make sure she could eat it without choking then put started mixing. It a little thicker. Don't make it so thick to wear its a solid food and ur baby should be fine
My second boy is a month and a half and he went from 7ibs to 9ibs our doc. Said he should be on cereal now. My first started at 2 1/2 on cereal. Also if you start cereal now it will help keep the baby thin there's about 20 cal. In each ounce of milk Brest and formula vs like 5 in an ounce of cereal, it's not healthy for babies to be fat esp. When they start trying to support their weight . Also our doc thinks its better to try to start the spoon asap so they get used to it. Well good luck :)

Thank You guys, Well, I started giving him the rice.. I gave him about 1 tsp 1 1/2 tsp maybe. He did fine.. I was  waiting to see if he was going to get a little constipated, but he didn't. Which is awesome b/c my daughter was always constipated when she was younger..but everything went well. I made it just a little thicker than usual, but not too thick. LOL, this  is funny. My kids have an 8yr gap ..smh I can't believe i am starting all over as a new mom again.. its a wonderful feeling though
